Запропоновані спосіб зміни конфігурації опорних поверхонь задньої і передньої частин корпусу та ріжучої крайки різця інструмента для створення конфігурації на поверхні, інструмент для обробки поверхонь та спосіб його виконання. Різець та опорні частини корпусу виконують з комплектів пластин. Комплекти пластин виконують та встановлюють із можливістю зміщення пластин та закріплення в заданому робочому положенні з утворенням необхідної конфігурації ріжучої крайки різця та опорних поверхонь, що відповідає конфігурації поверхні. Пластини комплектів виконують рівними або кратними по товщині, встановлюють орієнтованими повздовжньою площиною в напрямку робочого руху інструменту при обробці поверхонь. Зміну конфігурації ріжучої крайки та опорних поверхонь здійснюють зміщенням відповідних пластин із їх фіксацією у потрібному положенні. Інструмент для обробки поверхонь включає щонайменше один різець, передню та задню опорні частини корпусу, виконані з комплектів пластин. Ріжуча крайка різця та опорні поверхні складаються з торцевих поверхонь пластин.
