Description

Touch panel

The present invention relates to a touch panel, and more particularly to a touch panel having a multi-ground ring design.

The touch panel can be mainly divided into resistive touch, capacitive, and optical touch panels according to different sensing technologies. Capacitive touch panels have become a widely used touch panel because of their fast response time, high reliability and high durability. Capacitive touch panels mainly use capacitive coupling effects to detect touch positions. When the finger touches the surface of the capacitive touch panel, the capacitance of the corresponding position is changed, and the touch position is detected.

Since the capacitive touch panel has an electrode formed of a transparent conductive material and a touch line on the glass substrate, the touch line is often damaged by an electrostatic discharge phenomenon caused by a manufacturing process or the like. Therefore, the touch panel must have an electrostatic discharge protection design to avoid damage caused by electrostatic discharge.

The first figure shows a top view of a capacitive touch panel. The capacitive touch panel has an inductive touch area composed of electrodes and a ground ring 12 surrounding the inductive touch area on the glass substrate. The electrode is composed of a plurality of electrode strings respectively extending in two directions perpendicular to each other, wherein one sensing series includes a plurality of first electrodes 14 and a plurality of wires 18. The other sensing series also includes a plurality of second electrodes 16, a plurality of wires 19, and a plurality of bridge portions 17, and the respective bridge portions 17 are electrically connected to the two adjacent second electrodes 16, respectively. The grounding ring 12 surrounds the electrodes 14 and 16, the wires 18 and 19, and the land 11 to achieve a protective design for electrostatic discharge.

However, the protection design of the above electrostatic discharge is only assigned to a grounding ring at the periphery of the electrode and its wire. Although a certain degree of electrostatic discharge protection can be achieved, there is still a risk of electrostatic discharge, and the electrostatic current may jump. A wire adjacent to the grounding ring causes damage to the wire line or electrode.

Therefore, there is a need to provide a novel touch panel for improving the disadvantages of the above conventional touch panel.

In view of the above, one of the purposes of the new embodiment is to provide a touch panel having a plurality of grounding ring designs to increase the protection capability of the touch panel electrostatic discharge.

According to an embodiment of the invention, the touch panel comprises a transparent substrate, electrodes and wires, and at least two grounding rings are disposed on the transparent substrate.
