Abstract

The present invention relates to a polyester yarn which is substantially a multifilament maded from polytrimethylene terephthalated and is characterized in that it has a stress-strain curve strength of more than 3 cN/dtex, a Yong's modulus of less than 25 cN/dtex, a minimum differential Yong's modulus of less than 10 cN/dtex at 3 to 10% elongation, and an elastic recovery of more than 90% upon 3 to 10% enlongation. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for producing the polyester yarn, characterized in that a multifilament obtained by melt spinning a polymer substantially make from a polytrimethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of more than 0.7 is dragged at a spinning rate of more than 2,000 m/min continuously stretched and heat-treated after being wound, subsequently subjected to a relaxation treatment to 6 to 20% of relaxation, and then wound into a package. Moreover, the present invention relates to a fabric excellent in soft-stretch property, characterized in that the above polyester yarn is used as an twist yarn having a twist coefficient of 10,000 to 20,000, and as warp and/or weft. By such a constitution, a polyester yarn excellent in soft feeling can be stably produced at high speed without winding-up and the physical property in the length direction has little irregularity, and a fabric thereof having lower modulus stretch and thus lower tight feeling are provided.
