Description

5 _ I I - I - I ! Description of the Invention (/) The present invention relates to a monitoring system, particularly a system for identifying and monitoring library items such as books. Existing library identification and tracking systems usually use a combination of bar code systems to track the location of a loaned item, and use a magnetic strip as a security device to prevent an item from being removed outside the library without permission. The disadvantage of this traditional system is that when a user wants to borrow a book, the above barcode needs to open each book1 and scan the above barcode one by one, and when the book is returned, the barcode on each book needs to be scanned again. In addition, the revocation of the magnetic stripe when the item is lent, and the reactivation of the magnetic stripe when the item is returned are additional individual procedures necessary. Because this is a labor-intensive process, some libraries have started to use bookdrop boxes. Users can store and return books in a designated box. This box will be emptied regularly, and when the box is empty At times other than when books are returned, the returned books are scanned. Therefore, a disadvantage is that when a book is returned to the library and placed in a storage box that is not recorded in the library system, it will not be until the storage box has been emptied and the book has been scanned. It is actually returned. Therefore, with the traditional system, inaccuracies will occur in the recording system maintained by the library, and it does not reflect the actual time when books are placed back in the library's storage location. In addition, a user can only lend a certain number of books. If these quantities of books have been returned to a box, the borrower will not be able to lend other books until the books placed in the box are scanned and returned. For example, the total number of books a user can check out may be limited to four. 4 This paper is suitable for China® National Rolling List (CNS) A. 丨 Specifications (210x297cm) ------------- Packing ------------ Order ----- ---- Line (read the intentions on the back before filling in this page) 43 71 9 4 A7 B7 Printed by the Consumer Cooperatives of the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs V. Invention Description (i) At the same time, there will be another disadvantage, The classification of these books requires manual work before returning them to the correct storage location. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a library monitoring system includes a number of borrowable items, each of which has a radio frequency identification device installed thereon, and the aforementioned radio frequency identification device has a unique identification code; A processing unit coupled to a labeled database that categorizes the location of each library item, a loaned location, a loaned item return location, and a classified item returned location; among which, the loan item The return position includes a receptacle into which the above-mentioned loan item can be inserted. This receptacle includes an antenna which can detect the insertion action of a library item on which the radio frequency identification device is installed. Return position, in response to a library item inserting the above-mentioned storage container, the identification code will be detected, and according to the returned library item, the identification code will be transmitted to the above processing unit, and this processing unit will respond to the received identification code , Update the data in the database related to the returned library project Information to indicate that the item has been returned to the library to return back to the library. -An advantage of the present invention is that by having a library system, in which the radio frequency identification device is installed on an item in a library that can be checked out, it can be returned as a checked out item To the library, as long as these items enter a designated area, they can be detected. 0 Generally speaking * the above radio frequency identification equipment can also be used as a security function, so if anyone Permitted or authorized 5 _ II-I-I! In the case of the invention description (3), try to take a library project out of the library, Or take it out of an area in the library, this situation will be detected by the processing unit, and the processing unit will generate a warning signal that can be video or audio. Preferably, the return location detects an When the library item has been inserted into the container, the above return location will also send a signal to the processing unit to indicate the location where the item has been returned. Preferably, the above library system further includes a location between the return location and the classification location. Transfer mechanism, which will transfer the returned item from the storage to the sorting location. Preferably, the sorting location includes a radio frequency identification device reader that detects a library item to be sorted into the sorting location According to the item to be classified, an identification signal is sent to the processing unit. The processing unit responds to this signal and will be displayed on a display device located at the classification position. The classification enables an operator located at the classification position to identify the library item. Information on the location to be returned. Alternatively, the processing unit may send a signal to an automatic classification unit in response to the identification signal to instruct the automatic classification unit to classify the library item in the correct location for its return. Yes, the above loan location contains a Radio frequency identification device reader, which reads out radio frequency equipment located on a library item that a user wants to borrow, and the above-mentioned borrowing position transmits an identification signal related to the library item, and a The identification signal related to the borrower is sent to the processing unit, and then this processing unit will apply the standard of the paper to the library project and the borrower 6 paper standards (CNS > A4 (21〇297297)) ^, ---------------- Install -------- Order --------- Line (Please read the notes on the back first.Ja then fill out this page) Economy Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Intellectual Property, Cooperative Cooperative Association, Seal * 'generation 4371 94 at ___ 〇 " ---- V. Description of the invention (") The user will remove the library membership card or identification card, which will activate a cutter (not shown in the figure) in the small printer to cut the receipt, and issue the receipt of the loan book To the user. Similarly, the user can present the book to one of the counter stations so that when the user checks out, the loaned book can be scanned by a staff member of the library staff. When a user wants to return the book 34, the user goes to a return station 2 and throws the book 34 through the book slot 33. When the book 34 is then advanced in the direction of the transmitter system 8, it passes the RFID antenna 10 in the taxiway 32. When the book 34 passes the antenna 10 of the chute 32, the personal computer 30 reads the book's identification code 'from the reader 9 and transmits this identification information to the host computer 1. The host computer 1 then updates its database to indicate that the books 34 dropped through the book slot 33 are currently located in the library. In addition, the host computer 1 can assign books 34-some different locations' so that when the books 34 enter the book slot At 33:00, the book will enter the computer database if it is located at 2nd return station. When the book 34 is scanned at the sorting station, the computer may update the database to indicate that the book 34 has been sorted and is located in the sorting compartment. In addition, the antenna 10 and the reader 9 can be used throughout the library. These readers 9 can be regularly asked by the host computer 1 to determine whether all books 34 are located near this particular reader 9, and the database must be updated with the position of the books detected near the reader. This has the advantage of allowing the location of books 34 in all libraries to be maintained in a near instant manner.

Description of Invention () In addition to books, the same library monitoring system can be used with other projects, which can be loaned out by a library, such as CDs, cassettes, and video tapes. In addition, this The system has the advantage that the return station can be located outside the library itself, and assuming that the personal computer 30 is connected to the host computer I through a suitable communication link, the host computer 1 can determine the location of the book box where the book 34 has been returned. It may happen that some bookcases located outside the library may not be connected by a delivery mechanism 8 'In this case books can be collected manually, for example, by a delivery cart or messenger, or other collection agencies, Return the book to the library. The advantage of the present invention is that by using an RF based system, it does not require manual scanning during the process of book lending, book return and book classification. In addition, the RFID tag can also be used as a security device to minimize the risk of books being taken out of the library without permission. Generally, the above security functions are provided by the user in a borrowing room. The station 3 is unloaded when the book is borrowed, and restarted when the book is returned to the library, whether it is located at a return station 2 or a sorting station 5. This security function can be used by using the EEPROM in an RFID tag The memory address is activated. For example, a typical EEPROM in an RFID tag will have 128 bits of memory. About 75% of the memory address is used to identify a library item.
