Abstract

This invention relates to a rotation linear grating angle encoder, which comprises a laser source, a rotation body, a laser guidance device, and one or two sets of photo detection device; in which the rotation body comprises a linear grating and a rotation axis. Furthermore, a specific included angle exists between the grating normal line and the rotation axis. The engraving direction of the grating is orthogonal to the plane formed by the rotation axis and the grating normal line. When the laser guidance device guides the laser light to the grating in a direction parallel to the rotation axis, a non-zero-step diffraction light will diffract back in a direction opposite to the incident direction. The direction of the diffracted laser light will not change due to the rotation of the rotation body. However, the travel distance of light thereof alters along with a change in the rotation angle. Furthermore, the diffraction light is guided into the photo detection device by the laser guidance device to measure the travel distance of the diffraction light which can be used to estimate the rotation angle of the rotation body.
