Abstract

A device for destroying metal articles such as needles, which comprises a first electrode plate (9) and a second electrode plate (10), both of which are insulated from each other, and separately supported by a support (1) and separately electrically connected to the individual connector of power supply (7) of a low voltage and low impedance, in order to melt the metal part (16) between the two individual contact faces of the two electrodes (9, 10), the power supply (7) being connected to each electrode plate (9, 10) through an electric switch (22), and the electric switch being controlled by a control circuit (23), which is characterized in comprising: an electric resistance measuring circuit (25, 26, 27) for measuring the resistance between the two electrode plates when the to-be-destroyed metal object (16) is inserted between the first electrode plate (9) and the second electrode plate (10), and sending a measurement signal to the control circuit (23); a control circuit (23) for comparing the measured resistance with a predetermined maximum threshold value, and suppressing the power supply to each electrode plate (9, 10) through the electric switch (22) when the measured resistance is larger than the predetermined maximum threshold value.
