Abstract
The first object of this invention is provided polybenzazole fibre having a low density, high strength, high elasticity; and the second object of this invention is provided polybenzazole fibre having a high strength, high elasticity which is nearly to the crystalline elasticity. The constitute of this invention can form low density, high elasticity polybenzazole fibre by extruding a spinning dope, consisted of polybenzazole and polyphosphoric acid, from a spinning die at a non-coagulating gas, and giving a high drawing ratio at the gas in short time. The fibre has a microstructure characteristic which has no selective orientation in the cross section of the fibre. Further, polybenzazole according to this invention shows specified two points interference pattern in small angle of X-ray scattering, and has the physical properties of more than 1.55 of density, more than 5.0 GPa of strength, more than 290 GPa of elasticity.
