Abstract

An optical character recognition method, that uses edge direction length contribution method, comprises of: (a) evaluating feature point of one character with stroke width; (b) calculating feature value of the character feature point; (c) according those feature point number performing non-uniform segmentation of image area, so that each segmented area has same no. of feature point; (d) repeating step (a) (b) at least once; (e) comparing feature value of the input character feature point with standard character feature value stored in database in advance, so as to correspond the input character to at least one standard candidate character to get recognition result.
