Abstract

A selective call receiver (100) includes a support circuit (108) that processes received information. The selective call receiver comprises a digital voltage regulator (300) coupled at least to the support circuit (108). The digital voltage regulator (300) comprises a reference voltage (301), a comparator (302) for comparing a portion of the output supply voltage (305) to the reference voltage (301), and a capacitance selector (303). The comparator (302) generates an output signal of at least two states indicative of the portion of the output supply voltage (305) being either above or below the reference voltage (301). The capacitance selector (303), in response to the at least two states of the comparator output signal, operates to adjust a control signal presented to a control node (306) of an electronic control device (304) for maintaining the output supply voltage (307) within a desired regulated output voltage range.
