Description

Electronic devices

The present disclosure relates to an electronic device, and in particular to an electronic device having a reset module.

When an electronic device (such as a laptop) has an abnormality, it will be sent to a repair center for testing. The repairman will first reset the electronic device, for example, by disconnecting the power system before resetting the electronic device. In the early days, the case of the electronic device had to be removed to complete the task of disconnecting the power system.

In recent years, electronic devices equipped with reset ICs have appeared on the market, which can reset the power system. The reset IC is electrically connected to the power switch, and can be triggered by pressing the power switch for a long time. However, in order to avoid accidental triggering by the user, the pressing time is very long, such as 40 seconds. For maintenance personnel, they need to count to 40 seconds in their minds. If they let go before 40 seconds, the reset IC cannot be triggered. In addition, if the pressing is not accurate or the hand is shaking, the reset IC cannot be effectively triggered. Therefore, the current reset method of electronic devices is quite inconvenient and needs to be improved.

In view of the above-mentioned problems, the main purpose of the present disclosure is to provide an electronic device, which solves the problem that the resetting of the conventional electronic device is quite inconvenient by means of the arrangement of a resetting module and an indicating element and their connection relationship.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram of an electronic device of the first embodiment of the present disclosure, and FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of the electronic device shown in FIG. 1 . Please refer to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 . The electronic device 1 may be, for example, but not limited to, a desktop computer, a computer mainframe, a laptop computer, a tablet computer, or other electronic devices. The electronic device 1 of this embodiment is illustrated by taking a laptop computer as an example. In this embodiment, the electronic device 1 includes a power switch 10, a power system 20, a reset module 30, and an indicator element 40 (as shown in FIG. 1 ). Among them, the power switch 10 can be a power button of the electronic device 1, which can be arranged on the side of the housing of the electronic device 1. In this embodiment, the electronic device 1 also includes a system power light 50 (as shown in FIG. 2 ). The power switch 10 can receive an operation, such as pressing the power switch 10, and transmit a power signal accordingly.

The power supply system 20 is a system that supplies power to a circuit board (eg, a motherboard) of the electronic device 1 . The power supply system 20 is disposed inside the electronic device 1 . It should be noted that when the electronic device 1 is reset, the power system 20 can still provide part of the voltage and current to the circuit board, so the power outage described in this case only means stopping the supply of part of the current to the circuit board.

The reset module 30 of this embodiment can be arranged on the circuit board of the electronic device 1, and the reset module 30 is electrically connected to the power switch 10 and the power system 20 to receive the power signal from the power switch 10 and send a reset signal to the power system 20. Specifically, the reset module 30 can be, for example, a reset integrated circuit (Reset Integrated Circuit, referred to as Reset IC), or a reset chip. The reset module 30 is used to verify the power signal received from the power switch 10, and can determine whether the power signal meets a reset condition. Preferably, the reset condition can be that the power signal is continuously transmitted for a time greater than a predetermined reset time (e.g., 40 seconds).

In this embodiment, the reset module 30 includes a verification unit 31 and a timing unit 32. The verification unit 31 and the timing unit 32 are electrically connected to each other. The verification unit 31 is used to record information such as the voltage level of the power signal or the converted code. The verification unit 31 relies on the information carried by the power signal and can cooperate with the timing function of the timing unit 32 to determine whether the user's (pressing) operation is to perform functions such as power on, power off, or reset. For example, if the time of continuous pressing is used to define power on (press once), power off (press for more than 5 seconds), or reset (press for more than 40 seconds), the timing unit 32 can be used to record the accumulated time of receiving the power signal. The aforementioned time and rules can be adjusted according to actual needs.

In the present embodiment, when the reset module 30 continuously receives the power signal until a reset condition is met, for example, when the reset module 30 continuously receives the power signal for a period of time greater than or equal to 40 seconds, the reset module 30 sends a reset signal to the power system 20. In the present embodiment, the power system 20 receives the reset signal and is powered off, thereby stopping supplying part of the current to the circuit board (i.e., the motherboard), so that the power system 20 can perform the reset operation.

Further describing the configuration of the indicating element, the indicating element 40 is electrically connected to the reset module 30 . Preferably, the indicating element 40 is electrically connected between the reset module 30 and the power system 20 . In other words, the contact point of the indicating element 40 is located in the wiring between the reset module 30 and the power system 20 , thereby electrically connecting the indicating element 40 and the reset module 30 . When the reset module 30 sends a reset signal, the reset signal can be sent to the power supply system 20 and the indicating element 40 at the same time. Specifically, the reset signal in this embodiment may be a voltage signal. When the reset module 30 sends a reset signal to the power system 20 , since the indicating element 40 is electrically connected between the reset module 30 and the power system 20 , the voltage sent to the power system 20 can simultaneously notify the indicating element 40 . That is, the indicating element 40 can receive the reset signal at the same time.

Then, the indication component 40 generates indication information according to the reset signal. The indication information may have different forms according to the type of the indication element 40 . In this embodiment, the indicating element 40 (shown in FIG. 1 ) directly uses the system power light 50 (shown in FIG. 2 ), which does not require any additional hardware cost and can be applied to the original mechanism design. Preferably, the system power light 50 of this embodiment can be placed at an easily observed place on the electronic device 1 , such as the side of a notebook computer with the keyboard (commonly referred to as part C). To distinguish it from the lighting state of the power-on state, the indication information includes weakening or increasing a lighting brightness of the system power light 50 , or the system power light 50 emitting light at a specific frequency (ie, flashing light). The system power light 50 of this embodiment is also electrically connected to the reset module 30, and is preferably connected between the reset module 30 and the power system 20.

10。When the maintenance personnel need to reset the electronic device 1, they can continuously press the power switch 10. At this time, the reset module 30 continuously receives the power signal. After 40 seconds (i.e., meeting the reset condition of this embodiment), the reset module 30 sends a reset signal and transmits it to the power system 20 and the system power light 50 (i.e., the indicator element 40). The power system 20 is powered off according to the reset signal, so that the electronic device 1 can be reset. The system power light 50 weakens, increases the brightness, or emits light at a specific frequency (i.e., flashes) according to the reset signal. The maintenance personnel can visually know that the power system 20 has been powered off and can stop pressing the power switch 10.

In addition, the electronic device 1 of this embodiment directly uses the system power light 50 (shown in FIG. 2 ) as the indicating element 40 (shown in FIG. 1 ), so that the electronic device 1 does not need to add other components, let alone additional electronic devices. 1’s manufacturing costs and design changes.

FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram of an electronic device according to a second embodiment of the present disclosure. Please refer to FIG. 3 . The difference between the electronic device 1a of this embodiment and the first embodiment is that the indicating element 40a and the system power light 50a are arranged on the side of the casing, as shown in FIG. 3 . Therefore, other elements use the element symbols of the previous embodiments. Since the design of the system power light 50a on the side is not convenient for maintenance personnel to directly see, this embodiment additionally provides an indication element 40a on the front of the casing. According to different product designs, the power switch 10 may also be directly disposed on the front of the casing. Component 40a may be disposed adjacent to power switch 10. In this embodiment, the indication element 40a is an indicator light, and correspondingly, the indication information can be an indicator light emitting light.

Similarly, the indicator element 40a is electrically connected to the reset module 30, and preferably connected between the reset module 30 and the power system 20. When the maintenance personnel need to reset the electronic device 1a, they continue to press the power switch 10. After pressing for 40 seconds (i.e., the reset condition is met), the reset module 30 sends a reset signal and transmits it to the power system 20 and the indicator element 40a. The power system 20 is powered off according to the reset signal, so that the electronic device 1a can be reset. The indicator element 40a (i.e., the indicator light) lights up according to the reset signal to notify the maintenance personnel that the power system 20 has been powered off and they can stop pressing the power switch 10. In other embodiments, the indication information may also be that the indication element 40a (ie, the indicator light) emits light at a specific frequency, ie, flashes light.

FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of an electronic device according to a third embodiment of the present disclosure. Please refer to FIG. 4 . The difference between the electronic device 1b of this embodiment and the second embodiment is that the indicating element 40b is different, so other elements use the element symbols of the previous embodiment. In this embodiment, the indicating element 40b is a vibration element, as shown in FIG. 4 . Correspondingly, the indication information can generate vibration for the vibration element. Preferably, the vibration element can be disposed close to the power switch 10, or directly disposed on the casing of the electronic device 1b. When the indicating element 40b vibrates, the user (eg, maintenance personnel) can know that the power supply system 20 has been powered off through the sense of vibration.

When the maintenance personnel need to reset the electronic device 1b, they continue to press the power switch 10. After pressing it for 40 seconds (i.e., the reset condition is met), the reset module 30 sends a reset signal and transmits it to the power system 20 and the indicator element 40b. The power system 20 is powered off according to the reset signal, so that the electronic device 1b can be reset. The indicator element 40b (i.e., the vibration element) vibrates according to the reset signal and simultaneously vibrates the housing of the electronic device 1b, thereby notifying the maintenance personnel that the power system 20 has been powered off and they can stop pressing the power switch 10. Therefore, the maintenance personnel no longer need to count 40 seconds silently, nor worry about pressing incorrectly. They can judge whether the reset module 30 is indeed triggered by the indication information generated by the indication element 40b, thereby achieving the effect of convenient operation.

In addition, the indicator element 40a of the electronic device 1a of the second embodiment is an indicator light, and the indicator element 40b of the electronic device 1b of the third embodiment is a vibration element. The designs of the second and third embodiments can be applied to the electronic device 1a (or 1b) whose system power light 50a is set at the side or other places that are difficult to observe.

In summary, the electronic device according to the present disclosure includes a power switch, a power system, a reset module and an indicating element. The reset module is electrically connected to the power switch and the power system, and the indicating element is electrically connected to the reset module. When the reset module continues to receive the power signal from the power switch until a reset condition is met, the reset module sends a reset signal to the power system and the indicating element. Correspondingly, the indication element can generate indication information according to the reset signal. Users (such as maintenance personnel) can use the indication information generated by the indication component to determine whether the reset module is indeed triggered, so as to achieve the effect of convenient operation.

In addition, the indicating element is electrically connected between the reset module and the power system, so that the reset signal sent by the reset module can be transmitted to the power system and the indicating element at the same time without using complex structural (circuit) design.
