Abstract

An active discharge equalization device using a renewable energy source and a method thereof are proposed. The active discharge equalization device using the renewable energy source includes a battery assembly, a voltage measurement switching circuit, an equalization switching circuit, a power converter, a control processing unit, an equalization power switching circuit and a peripheral power battery. The battery assembly includes a plurality of batteries. The batteries are connected to each other in series. The voltage measurement switching circuit is electrically connected to the battery assembly. The voltage measurement switching circuit includes a plurality of measuring switches. Two ends of each of the batteries are connected to two of the measuring switches, respectively. The equalization switching circuit is electrically connected to the battery assembly. The equalization switching circuit includes a plurality of equalization switches. Two ends of each of the batteries are connected to two of the equalization switches, respectively. The power converter has an input end and an output end. The output end is electrically connected to the equalization switching circuit. The control processing unit is electrically connected to the voltage measurement switching circuit and the equalization switching circuit. The equalization power switching circuit is electrically connected to the battery assembly and the input end of the power converter. The peripheral power battery is electrically connected to the equalization power switching circuit for providing the renewable energy source to the equalization power switching circuit. Therefore, the renewable energy source is configured to one of the batteries which has a lowest voltage so as to increase a discharge schedule.
