Figure 1 illustrates a wrap bundle 1 consisting of a tobacco industry article (e.g., a smoking article). In this embodiment, the tobacco industry article is a cigarette.

The wrap bundle 1 comprises a flexible barrier material 21 that has been wrapped around a group of cigarettes (eg, 20 cigarettes). However, it should be understood that the wrap bundle 1 can contain any number of cigarettes, such as 10 or 14 cigarettes. The cigarettes are elongated cylindrical articles and are arranged in a row so that the overall shape of the wrapped bundle 1 is substantially a rectangular parallelepiped or a parallelepiped.

The wrap bundle 1 comprises a front face 2, a back face 3, opposite side faces 4, 5, and opposite end faces 6, 7. The wrap bundle 1 illustrated in the drawings has a square edge, however it will be appreciated that the edges may be rounded or otherwise shaped depending on the shape of the contents of the wrap bundle 1.

As shown in Fig. 1, the wrap bundle 1 is provided with a starting cutting cut 8 in the barrier material 21. The barrier material 21 is at least partially cut into a 'U' shape on the front face 2 of the wrapping bundle 1. The starting secant line 8 includes a first secant line 9 extending across the wrap bundle 1 in opposite directions 4, 5, and a second and third secant line 10 extending from the end of the first secant line 9 toward the end face 6 of the wrap bundle 1. 11, 11. Thus, the starting secant line 8 defines the tongue of the material 12 that is surrounded by the first, second and third secant lines 9, 10, 11.

6。 It should be understood that the starting secant 8 can include other shapes. For example, the starting secant line 8 can be a single curved secant line shaped to have its end facing the end face 6 of the wrap bundle 1.

8。 The adhesive label 13 is bonded to the outside of the wrap bundle 1 so that it covers and seals the starting secant 8.

The adhesive label 13 shown in Fig. 1 extends from the front side 2 of the wrapping bundle 1 over the front end edge 14 of the wrapping bundle 1 and to the end face 6 of the wrapping bundle 1. The adhesive label 13 can also extend over the rear end edge 15 of the wrap bundle 1 to the back side 3 of the wrap bundle 1, as shown in FIG.

As also shown in FIG. 1, the adhesive label 13 includes a pull tab 16. When the user pulls the tab 16 of the adhesive label 13 away from the front face 2 of the wrapping bundle 1, the adhesive label 13 peels off the front side 2 of the wrapping bundle 1 and continues to pull the material 12 formed by the starting secting line 8. Tongue.

6。 When the tongue of the material 12 is pulled, the crack propagates through the barrier material 21, starting from the ends of the second and third secants 10, 11 and along the line 33 in the direction of the second and third secants 10, 11. The end face 6 of the bundle 1 spreads. When the tab 16 is pulled, the crack propagates in the front face 2 of the barrier material 21, over the leading edge 14 of the wrapping bundle 1 and across the end face 6 of the wrapping bundle 1.

Depending on the configuration and extent of the adhesive label 13 and how far the user pulls the tab 16 , the crack can propagate along the line 33 to a point on the end face 6 of the wrapping bundle 1 or after wrapping the bundle 1 The end edge 15 passes over the rear end edge 15 and onto the back side 3 of the wrap bundle 1.

18。 The pulling of the adhesive label 13 and the tearing of the barrier material 21 along the straight line 33 create a take-out opening 17, as shown in Fig. 2. The take-out opening 17 extends from the front face 2 over the front end edge 14 and into the end face 6 of the wrap bundle 1. When the adhesive label 13 is in the lifted position, the cigarette 18 can be taken out by the wrapping bundle 1 via the take-out opening 17.

17。 In an alternate embodiment, the starting secant line 8 includes a line of weakness and is not a through secant as described above. In this way, pulling the tab 16 can result in weakening of the tear line and production. A starting secant line is passed through which the barrier material 21 tears and forms the take-out opening 17.

In another alternative embodiment, the barrier material 21 is not provided with any secant or weakening to form a starting secant as described above. In this embodiment, the adhesive label 13 can be permanently bonded to selected areas of the barrier material 21 such that when the adhesive label 13 is pulled, the barrier material 21 is subjected to shear forces at certain locations causing the barrier material 21 to tear into a predetermined shape.

17。 The adhesive label 13 can be bonded to the wrap bundle 1 at least in part with a pressure sensitive adhesive. In particular, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the edge of the adhesive label 13 is offset from the secant lines 9, 10, 11 of the starting secant 8, so that after the first wrapping of the wrapping bundle 1, at the edge of the barrier material 21 Deviating from the take-out opening 17.

Thus, the label 13 contains an overlap region 19 that surrounds the removal opening 17. The overlap region 19 of the adhesive label 13 can be provided with a pressure sensitive adhesive such that the adhesive label 13 can be placed over the removal opening 17 and the pressure sensitive adhesive can be reattached to the barrier material 21 and the adhesive label 13 can be removed from the opening 17 Keep positioning above.

The adhesive label 13 may be provided entirely with a pressure sensitive adhesive, or a region which may comprise a permanent adhesive, or a region free of adhesive other than the pressure sensitive adhesive in the overlap region 19.

The tearing portion 20 of the barrier material 21 which has been separated from the wrapping bundle 1 to form the take-out opening 17 is still adhered to the adhesive label 13, as shown in Fig. 2.

13。 The tear-open portion 20 may be attached to the adhesive label 13 with a pressure sensitive adhesive or with a permanent adhesive region disposed between the tear portion 20 and the adhesive label. If the tear-open portion 20 is adhered to the adhesive label 13 with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, the pressure-sensitive adhesive may have an increased coating weight in the region of the tear-open portion 20 to prevent the tearing portion 20 from being It is detached from the adhesive label 13 when in use.

Thus, the adhesive label 13 and the tear-open portion 20 of the barrier material 21 form a re-usable cover flap 22 for closing the removal opening 17 after the first opening. A pressure sensitive adhesive on the overlap region 19 of the adhesive label 13 is used to reattach the cover flap 22 to the barrier material 21.

21。 In another embodiment, the adhesive label 13 is provided with a one-use adhesive in the overlap region 19 such that the cover flap 22 can be placed over the removal opening 17 but the adhesive label 13 does not reattach to Barrier material 21.

22。 A portion of the adhesive label 13 can be permanently bonded to the barrier material 21 such that the cover flap 22 remains on the wrap bundle 1 and cannot be completely removed. In other specific embodiments, The cover flap 22 can be completely removed from the wrap bundle 1 when opened, using a disposable adhesive over the entire adhesive label 13, or by providing a tear-off line through the adhesive label 13.

Prior to the first opening, the barrier material 21 in the region of the front edge 14 of the wrapping bundle 1 is not broken, so that this region of the barrier material 21 provides a strong and durable seal.

In conjunction with the adhesive label 13 covering the starting secant 8, the front face 2, the end face 6 and the back face 3 of the wrap bundle 1 are hermetically closed by continuing to open the tab 16 for the first time.

The starting secant line 8 is spaced from the leading edge 14 thereby defining an edge region 23 extending from the leading edge 14 to the end face 6 of the wrapping bundle 1 and to the front face 2. In this edge region 23, the barrier material 21 is not broken. In the region of the front end edge 14, the edge region 23 extends across the width of the wrap bundle 1 between the opposing sides 4, 5. The edge region 23 can extend at least 5 mm on both adjacent faces of the front end edge 14 (i.e., the end face 6 and the front face 2 of the wrap bundle 1).

The improved seal provided by maintaining the unbroken barrier material 21 in the front edge region 23 of the wrap bundle 1 prevents air from entering the wrap bundle 1 after manufacture, and thus is compared to the front edge The zone 23 has a wrapped bundle 1 of secant or perforated holes to maintain the freshness of the cigarette 18 for a longer period of time.

In another embodiment, if a reduced pressure, that is, a partial vacuum, is provided in the wrapping bundle 1, the barrier material 21 and the adhesive label 13 are wrapped around the atmospheric pressure of the bundle 1 to the cigarette 18 Push inside. In this case, the barrier material 21 can deform the shape of the contents of the wrapping bundle 1 and this can reduce the sealing effectiveness provided by the adhesive label 13 on the edge region 23 before wrapping the bundle 1. Maintaining the integrity of the barrier material 21 in the leading edge region 23 prevents any deformation of the barrier material 21 from affecting the seal provided, which helps maintain the differential pressure for a longer period of time.

17。 In each of these embodiments, the wrap bundle 1 is provided with a member for facilitating the opening of the wrap bundle 1, i.e., the adhesive label 13, which is opened for the first time, despite the stronger and more durable seal. The barrier material 21 is caused to tear along the line 33 to create the take-out opening 17.

The sealed front edge region of the wrap bundle described above is advantageous because it provides a long lasting seal which is important to maintain freshness or to provide positive or negative pressure within the wrap bundle. In most cases, it may take weeks, months from packaging cigarettes to the first time a consumer opens. During this time, the cigarette pack will be moved from the package to the store and stored in the sales display (or similar) And then the consumer may remain for a while before opening for the first time.

Therefore, it is important to provide a strong and durable seal against air intrusion between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21.

Fig. 3 is a view showing the inner frame 24 (refer to Fig. 2) in which the cigarettes 18 are stored and wrapped with the barrier material 21 to form the wrap bundles 1 shown in Figs. 1 and 2 . In other words, the illustrated inner frame 24 can be placed between the cigarette 18 and the barrier material 21.

The inner frame 24 includes a front wall 25, a rear wall 26, opposing side walls 27, 28, a bottom wall 29, and a top wall 30 that correspond to the front face 2 of the wrapping bundle 1 when the barrier material 21 covers the inner frame 24. Back side 3, opposite side 4, 5 and end faces 6, 7. The inner frame 24 also includes an aperture 31 formed in the end wall 30 and the front wall 25, which is aligned with the take-out opening 17 after opening the wrap bundle 1 for the first time, as shown in FIG.

In this embodiment, the aperture 31 of the inner frame 24 extends partially across the top wall 30 and the front wall 25 of the inner frame 24, i.e., across the front edge region 23 of the wrap bundle 1. Therefore, when the take-out opening 17 is formed, it is aligned with the window 31 of the inner frame 24.

Inner frame 24 provides additional strength and support for cigarette 18. Further, if a wrap bundle 1 having a reduced internal pressure, such as a partial vacuum, is provided, the inner frame 24 helps protect the cigarette 18 from the crushing force that acts on the outside of the wrap bundle 1 against atmospheric pressure. .

In some embodiments, the aperture 31 of the inner frame 24 is sized and positioned such that at least some of the apertures of the aperture 31 fall within the removal opening 17 after the adhesive label 13 is pulled to create the removal opening 17 in the barrier material 21. Inside.

Figure 4 depicts an embodiment of the inner frame 24 as viewed from the front wall 25. In this embodiment, the aperture 31 of the inner frame 24 is configured to support a starting secant 8 formed in the barrier material 21, as shown. In particular, the window opening 31 is formed such that when the barrier material 21 wraps around the inner frame 24, the support portion 32 of the inner frame 24 can be directly behind the starting secant 8.

In this manner, when the barrier material 21 is deformed, for example, by applying a reduced pressure to the inside of the wrap bundle 1, the initial secant line 8 urged by the atmospheric pressure toward the inner frame 24 is supported by the support portion 32 of the inner frame 24. Moreover, it does not bend or deform, which means that the adhesive label 13 can effectively seal the starting secant 8 and prevent air from intruding between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21. The flat support surface provided by the support portion 32 of the inner frame 24 prevents the barrier material 21 from deforming in the region of the starting secant 8, thereby improving the wraparound bundle mentioned in the first illustration to the first to third figures. Bunch 1 The seals previously provided.

In another embodiment, illustrated in Fig. 5, the aperture 31 of the inner frame 24 is configured such that the edge of the aperture 31 falls within the boundary of the extraction opening 17 around all or a substantial portion thereof. Thus, as shown in Fig. 5, the support portion 32 of the inner frame 24 is directly behind the protruding tear line of the barrier material, which is aligned with the end of the starting secant line 8. This pair of barrier materials 21 in the region of the starting secant 8 provides increased support prior to opening the wrap bundle 1 for the first time.

In the embodiment described with reference to Figures 6 through 11, the barrier material 21 comprises a reinforced region for guiding the tear line 33 through the barrier material 21. Therefore, the crack is guided along the path-of-least-resistance between the reinforcement zones.

Forming the stiffening zones may be by attaching one or more reinforcing labels 40 to the barrier material 21, such as on the opposite side of the barrier material relative to the adhesive label 13.

In an alternative embodiment, the area of the reinforced barrier material 21 may be printed on the surface of the barrier material 21 by a printed material. For example, a lacquer, varnish or adhesive can be printed on the surface of the barrier material 21 to increase the strength of the area.

41。 Figure 6 illustrates a first embodiment of a reinforced tag 40. As shown, the reinforcing labels 40 are applied to the inner faces of the barrier material 21 in spaced relationship, thereby forming a void 41 between the reinforcing labels 40. The space 41 between the labels 40 is aligned with the end of the starting secant 8, such that when the barrier material 21 begins to tear at the first opening, the guiding crack passes from the end of the starting secant 8 along the weakest path. The barrier material 21, i.e., along the space 41 between the reinforcing labels 40.

In this embodiment, the front edge region 23 of the barrier material 21 remains unchanged until the first opening, and without any barrier material 21 becoming weak, and thus the sealing integrity of the front edge region 23 of the wrapping bundle 1 is not damage.

In addition, the reinforcement zone 40 ensures that the tear barrier material 21 can produce an opening of suitable shape and size for the user to remove the cigarette within the package material 1.

As an alternative to applying the reinforcing label 40 to the barrier material 21, as described above, the barrier material 21 can be printed at a position corresponding to the reinforcing label 40 shown in FIG. The printing material strengthens the barrier material 21 at the same position, producing the same effect as the reinforcing label 40 described above. The printed material can be a lacquer, a varnish, a binder, or other material capable of printing and increasing the strength of the barrier material 21 at the printing location.

In an alternative embodiment, the single reinforcing label 40 is positioned along the desired tear line. There are secants or perforations. Therefore, in the same manner as the specific embodiment mentioned in the description of Fig. 6, when the cracks start to propagate from the starting secant 8, they will pass through the barrier material 21 and the reinforcing label 40 along the weakest line, The secant/tooth hole of the reinforced label 40 is reinforced.

8。 It should be understood that in the particular embodiment mentioned in the description of FIG. 6, the starting secant line 8 may be a secant line in the barrier material 21, or may be scored or partially cut along the starting secant line 8. A weakening line formed by the material. Alternatively, the barrier material 21 may be provided without any secant or weakening to form the starting secant 8. In this embodiment, the adhesive label 13 can be permanently bonded to selected areas of the barrier material 21 such that when the adhesive label 13 is pulled, the barrier material 21 is subjected to shear forces at certain locations causing the barrier material 21 to tear into a predetermined shape, thereby A starting secant 8 is formed.

Figure 7 illustrates an embodiment of an adhesive configuration applied between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21 in accordance with the specific embodiment mentioned in the description of Figure 6. Figure 7 illustrates the bottom surface of the adhesive label 13.

1。 As shown in Fig. 7, the tab 16 is not provided with any adhesive so that the user can easily pick up and grasp the tab 16 to open the wrap bundle 1.

The first zone 37 is provided with a permanent adhesive between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21, the zone corresponding approximately to the tearing of the barrier bundle 1 from the wrapping bundle 1 to form a take-out opening (17, see Figure 2) The section is torn (20, see Figure 2). The permanent adhesive means that the tear-open section 20 is still attached to the adhesive label 13 to form a cover flap (22, see Figure 2).

If desired, the second zone 38 is provided with a disposable adhesive between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21, the zone corresponding approximately to the area surrounding the initial secant 8. The second zone 38 with the disposable adhesive overlaps the initial secant 8 and provides a liner or seal over the initial secant 8 prior to opening the wrap bundle 1 for the first time to increase the strength of the seal. The user easily breaks the second zone 38 with the disposable adhesive when the wrap bundle 16 is first opened, and does not re-bond when the adhesive label 13 is placed over the removal opening 17.

A pressure sensitive adhesive is provided in the remaining region 39 between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21. In this manner, the adhesive label 13 is placed over the removal opening 17 and reattached to the barrier material 21 around the edge of the removal opening 17, as previously described. It will be appreciated that portions of the tear-off section 20 of the barrier material may cover portions of the remaining area.

As an alternative to the permanent binder, the first zone 37 can be modified to provide a pressure sensitive adhesive having an increased coating weight to provide a stronger bond between the label 13 and the barrier material in the zone. Bonding.

Figures 8a through 9b illustrate an embodiment of a barrier material 21 in which the adhesive label 13 is adapted to provide a relatively weakened line similar to the reinforcing label 40 mentioned in the description of Figure 6.

In these embodiments, the adhesive label 13 can comprise a laminate material having at least two layers of material.

As shown in Fig. 8a, the adhesive label 13 has side regions 42 formed by cutting at least the innermost layer of the adhesive label. These side regions 42 are permanently bonded to the barrier material 21, whereby the innermost layer of the side regions 42 are configured to be delaminated when the adhesive label 13 is first pulled away from the barrier material 21. In this manner, after the first opening, a portion of each side region 42 remains attached to the barrier material 21, as shown in Figure 8b.

13。 For the sake of clarity, the adhesive label 13 is not shown in Figure 8b.

In the side regions 42 of the adhesive label 13, a pressure sensitive adhesive is provided between the layers of the adhesive label 13. In this manner, after the first opening, the adhesive label 13 can be placed over the take-out opening 17 and reattached to the layered portion of the adhesive label 13 and around the starting secant 8.

The layered side regions 42 of the adhesive label 13 each provide an edge that is aligned with the desired line of tear, i.e., aligned with the end of the starting secant line 8.

43。 Therefore, when the adhesive label 13 is first opened, by continuing to pull the tab 16, the crack will spread from the starting secant line 8 and tear away from the edge of the layered portion of the side region 42 of the adhesive label 13. The layered portions of the side regions 42 of the adhesive label 13 each provide an edge 43 against which the barrier material 21 is sheared as the adhesive label 13 continues to be pulled.

In an alternate embodiment, the side regions 42 can be formed by cutting through the entire thickness of the adhesive label 13 such that the side regions effectively strengthen the label applied to the outer surface of the barrier material 21. In this case, the side regions 42 may be attached to the barrier material 21 with a permanent adhesive. In this embodiment, the adhesive label 13 may be formed of a single layer or a laminate or two or more layers.

8。 In the embodiment mentioned in the description of Figures 8a and 8b, the starting secant line 8 may be a secant line of the barrier material 21, or may be formed by scoring or partially cutting the barrier material along the starting secant line 8. Weakening line.

17。 Figures 9a and 9b illustrate another embodiment in which the barrier material 21 is additionally provided with an overlap region 35 that provides an additional area of pressure sensitive adhesive for reattaching the adhesive label 13 to after the first opening The barrier material 21 covers the take-out opening 17.

In this embodiment, the barrier material 21 is a laminate comprising at least two layers. Further, in at least one region 35 of the barrier material 21, a pressure sensitive adhesive is provided between the two layers, as will be described later.

In this embodiment, the initial secant line 8 is formed by cutting at least the outermost layer of the barrier material 21 instead of the innermost layer. The layered side regions 42 of the adhesive label 13 are configured to guide the tear line from the end of the starting secant line 8 as the tab 16 is pulled.

In this embodiment, the secant line 36 is also disposed in the innermost layer of the barrier material 21 and offset from the initial secant line 8 in the outermost layer to define an overlap region 35 between the starting secant line 8 and the secant line 36. As shown, this overlap region 35 does not extend beyond the range of the starting secant 8.

In this overlap region 35, a pressure sensitive adhesive can be provided between the innermost layer and the outermost layer of the barrier material 21.

As shown in Figure 9b, when the tab 16 on the adhesive label 13 is pulled and along the linear tear barrier material 21 defined by the reinforcing side regions 42 to form the removal opening 17, the barrier material will follow the secant lines 8, 36. The separation causes the barrier material 21 to delaminate in the overlap region 35. The outermost layer is bonded to the adhesive label 13 and forms part of the cover flap (22, see Fig. 2) while the innermost layer is still positioned.

17。 Thus, after the first opening, the cover flap 22 can be placed over the removal opening 17 to reclose the removal opening 17. In this embodiment, both the pressure sensitive adhesive in the overlap region 35 and the pressure sensitive adhesive on the adhesive label 13 can be used to reclose the removal opening 17.

In another embodiment, the side regions 42 may be formed by cutting through the entire adhesive label 13 in this region, or by providing a line of weakness along which the adhesive label 13 tears when opened. Therefore, the side regions 42 are not layered, but are completely separated from the adhesive label 13 on the first opening. Thus, when the adhesive label 13 is opened, the side regions are still completely attached to the barrier material 21 and provide guiding cracks along their edges.

Fig. 10 illustrates an embodiment of an adhesive region between the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21 in accordance with the embodiment mentioned in the description of Figs. 8a to 9b. As shown, the region 43 of permanent adhesive is disposed between the side regions 42 of the adhesive label 13 and the barrier material 21, with the exception of the pull tab. In addition to the sheet 16, the remaining portion of the adhesive label 13 is provided with a pressure sensitive adhesive.

Optionally, a region 37 of permanent adhesive is provided to ensure that the discrete portions of the barrier material 21 forming the removal opening (17, see Figure 2) remain attached to the adhesive label 13 to form a cover flap (22, see Figure 2) .

The region 37 of permanent adhesive may also increase the shear applied to the barrier material 21 along the edge of the stiffening zone 40 or side region 42. That is, due to the permanent adhesive region 37, the barrier material 22 can be pulled more strongly with the cover flap 22, thereby increasing the tearing force between the barrier material 21 and the reinforcing region 40 or the side regions 42.

Alternatively, the region 37 may be provided with a pressure sensitive adhesive having an increased coating weight to provide a strong bond of the adhesive label 13 to the barrier material 21 in this region 37 as compared to the remainder of the adhesive label 13.

In an alternate embodiment illustrated in FIG. 11, the barrier material 21 can comprise a backing label 54 incorporating the reinforcing side regions 42 and/or the lines of weakness 41, as illustrated in Figures 6 through 10. Said at the time. In this embodiment, the backing label 54 has a secant line that defines an opening when the wrapping bundle is opened.

13。 The backing label 54 can be bonded to the inner surface of the barrier material 21. In addition to the adhesive label 13, a backing label 54 can be provided on the outer surface of the barrier material 21. Figure 11 illustrates the adhesive label 13 provided on the reverse side of the barrier material 21.

The backing label 54 can extend across the starting secant line 8. In the region of the starting secant 8, the backing label 54 can have a binder free zone 55 whereby the area defined by the starting secting line 8 can be picked up when the tab 16 is pulled to open the wrap bundle (1, reference Figure 2).

The backing label 54 increases the strength and integrity of the sealed enclosure formed by the barrier material 21.

17。 In all of the above-described embodiments, the reinforced region 40 and/or the reinforced side region 42 of the adhesive label 13 provides a convenient and easy to use method of tearing the barrier material 21 to form the removal opening 17 for accessing the cigarette 18.

The unbroken portion of the barrier material 21 preferably comprises a polymer, such as polypropylene.

In this case, the fibers of the polymeric material can be oriented and the barrier material 21 disposed such that the fibers are oriented in the direction of the desired tear line. Therefore, in the pull bond When the label 13 is formed to form the take-out opening 17, the polymeric material will tear more easily and more neatly. Otherwise, the polymer may stretch and deform upon tearing, leaving the removal opening 17 with uneven edges, and the adhesive label 13 may not be easily sealed over the edges.

The barrier material can be cut or weakened by mechanical means, or more particularly a layer of barrier material (or layers), such as a rotary cutter with a fixed depth of knife. Alternatively, a laser cutting barrier material 21 having a preselected power and/or wavelength may be used such that the laser only cuts through the desired portion of the barrier material layer.

The barrier material 21 can comprise a polymer (eg, polypropylene), a metal foil, a metal film (eg, a metal polymer), or any other flexible material suitable for packaging.

In a preferred embodiment, the barrier material 21 comprises a three layer laminate having an intermediate layer of oriented polypropylene and an intermediate layer of metal foil, such as aluminum foil.

As will be described later, in order to form the wrap bundle 1, the barrier material 21 wraps a group of cigarettes 18 and is sealably closed. First, the cigarette 18 can be placed within the inner frame 24 that can support and protect the cigarette 18, and then the barrier material 21 can wrap around the inner frame 24 and the group of cigarettes 18.

In an embodiment, the edges of the barrier material 21 may be folded against the sides of the contents of the wrap bundle 1 (eg, the inner frame 24) to form mutually overlapping overlapping flaps, such as with an adhesive, heat seal or ultrasonic. welding.

In another embodiment, illustrated in Fig. 12, the barrier material 21 surrounding the inner frame 24 can be folded, and the ends of the barrier material 21 can be fin sealed.

In particular, the cigarettes 18 can be placed into the inner frame 24, such as by folding the inner frame 24 surrounding the group of cigarettes 18, and then the barrier material 21 can wrap around the inner frame 24, as shown.

46、47。 First, the edges of the barrier material 21 may be finned to each other to form a first fin seal 45, which means that the barrier material 21 is tubular around the inner frame 24. The ends of the tubular barrier material 21 can then also be finned together to form second and third fin seals 46, 47, as shown in FIG. In this embodiment, the bundle 1 of fin seals illustrated in Figure 13 has a first fin seal 45 extending across the back side 3 of the wrap bundle 1 and along the opposite side of the wrap bundle 1 4, 5 extended second and third fin seals 46, 47.

46、47。 In another embodiment, schematically illustrated in Fig. 14, a first fin seal 45 can be formed across the end face 7 of the wrap bundle 1 (opposite the end face 6 with the adhesive label 13). The second and third fin seals 46, 47 can then be formed along the opposing sides 4, 5 of the wrap bundle 1.

45。 In an alternate embodiment, under the adhesive label 13, a first fin seal 45 can be formed across the front face 2 of the wrap bundle 1.

45、46、47。 As shown in Fig. 13, the fin seals 45, 46, 47 which wrap around the surface of the bundle 1 are folded.

The fin seal can be formed by joining together portions of the barrier material 21 and applying heat and/or adhesive to bond the portions of the barrier material 21 together. Heat can cause the components of the barrier material 21 to melt and/or fuse together.

As described above, the finned bundled bundle 1 provides a strong hermetic seal capable of maintaining a pressure differential. For example, a wrapped bundle of internal pressures above or below atmospheric pressure can be provided.

Providing increased pressure within the wrap bundle 1 may be by adding air or some other gas or liquid to the interior of the wrap bundle 1 prior to forming the final seal. Providing a reduced pressure, such as a partial vacuum, to the interior of the wrap bundle 1 can be withdrawn by drawing air prior to forming the final seal, for example by performing in a low pressure environment as described in the description of Fig. 12 or Fig. Wrap and seal method.

1。 Alternatively, the wrap bundle 1 may be provided with a one-way valve adapted to allow air to flow in one direction and not in the other direction. The valve on the wrap bundle 1 can then be provided with a high pressure source or a low pressure source to move the air into or out of the wrap bundle 1.

Alternatively, an interior of the wrapped bundle 1 with a gas other than air, such as an inert gas, may be provided. Additionally, other materials that may be added as a liquid are packaged into the package and allowed to evaporate within the wrap bundle 1, for example, to increase the pressure within the wrap bundle 1.

As shown in Fig. 15, the various embodiments of the wrapped bundle 1 referred to in the description of Figs. 1 through 14 can be housed in a hinged-lid pack 48 to provide a pack of cigarettes.

Alternatively, the wrap bundle 1 itself may be provided as a package without any other pack outer or lid.

As shown in Fig. 15, the hinge pack 48 has a base portion 49 in the form of a parallelepiped and adapted to receive the wrap bundle 1 such that the wrap bundle 1 protrudes from the base portion 49. In this position, the adhesive label 13, in particular the tab 16, is accessible for opening the wrap bundle 1 and providing access to the cigarette.

17。 The cover 50 is hinged to the base portion 49 centering on the hinge 51. The cover 50 is pivotable between a closed position in which the cover 50 covers the wrap bundle 1 and an open position in which the wrap bundle 1 is exposed. Figure 15 illustrates the cover 50 in an open position, which allows the user to grasp the tab 16 on the adhesive label 13 and pull the tear barrier material 21 and form the removal opening 17.

22。 In other embodiments, a portion of the adhesive label 13 can be attached to the inner face of the cover 50 such that the operation of the cover 50 simultaneously manipulates the cover flap 22 on the bundle 1.

In particular, the tab 16 of the adhesive label 13 can be bonded to the inner face of the cover 50 such that when the cover 50 is pivoted to the open position about the hinge 51, the tab 16 is pulled, thereby lifting the cover flap 22 to form a take-up Opening.

The outer surface of the tongue 16 can be directly attached to the inner face 52 of the front wall 53 of the cover, as shown in FIG. Alternatively, the tab 16 can be folded back and then attached to the inner face 52 of the front wall 53 of the cover, as shown in FIG.

In the specific embodiment of FIGS. 16 and 17, the advantage of attaching the tab 16 to the cover 50 is that the adhesive label 13 can be evenly and smoothly pulled when the cover 50 is opened for the first time, which facilitates control. The tear of the barrier material 21.
