Abstract

Description

選澤多帶存取點伴隨多帶行動站方法及裝置
本發明與一種包含複數個多帶存取點(APs)與一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)(換言之,一種移動站)的無線通訊系統有關。更特別的,本發明與一種利用從複數個多帶存取點傳輸至該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元的頻帶資訊,選擇聯結一特定多帶存取點的方法與裝置有關。
一種典型的無線區域網路(WLAN)包含一存取點(AP),其在該存取點的覆蓋區域中提供對於無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)的無線電存取。該存取點則包括一基本服務套組(BSS),其為以IEEE 802.11為基礎無線區域網路的基本建立區塊。多個基本服務套組也可以透過一種分散是系統(DS)互連,以形成一種延伸服務套組(ESS)。
該無線區域網路可以配置為一種基礎建設模式,或是一種特別模式。在該基礎建設模式中,由一存取點控制無線通訊。該存取點週期性地廣播信標訊框至可能的無線傳輸/接收單元以進行識別,該無線傳輸/接收單元則進一步與該存取點進行通訊。在該特別模式中,複數個無線傳輸/接收單元則在一種點對點通訊模式中操作。該無線傳輸/接收單元建立本身的通訊,而不需要與一網路元件結合。然而,一存取點可以配置以作用為連接至另一網路的橋接器或路由器,像是連接至網際網路。
該無線傳輸/接收單元與該存取點可配置以利用多頻帶進行通訊。在一種傳統無線通訊系統中,一多帶無線傳輸/接收 單元在一頻帶的不同通道上傳輸多個探查請求,已發現在該區域中是否有任何可利用的存取點。一旦一存取點接收該探查請求,其傳送一探查回應封包至該無線傳輸/接收單元。該存取點將在一特定頻帶中,於其操作通道上傳送探查回應封包。該探查回應封包包含要求的參數,像是該無線傳輸/接收單元與該存取點聯結的支援率等等。該無線傳輸/接收單元將傳送一聯結請求封包,並等待來自一存取點的聯結回應封包,以進行進一步的資料通訊。一旦進行聯結,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元可以藉由傳送一探查請求封包,並等待一探查回應封包,以掃瞄其他的頻帶而尋找一較佳的通訊帶。在接收到另一探查回應封包之後,該無線傳輸/接收單元立刻比較該頻帶及/或該存取點,並選擇一更好的頻帶及/或存取點。
在該傳統式的無線通訊系統中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元必須掃瞄並比較不同的頻帶,以決定提供最佳無線通訊品質的頻帶。然而,這些掃瞄與比較功能為耗時並需要一大量的電池電力。其需要一種在產生頻帶與通道選擇決策時,減少使用時間與需要電池電力的方法與裝置。
本發明與一種選擇複數個多帶存取點(APs)之一,以與一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)聯結的方法與裝置。該多帶存取點廣播關於所配置各別多帶存取點所處多頻帶上進行操作的頻帶資訊。該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元根據該頻帶資訊選擇聯結的一特定多帶存取點以及與所選擇多帶存取點進行通訊的使用頻帶。如果該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元從該選擇多帶存取點所接收到的頻帶資訊,指示該選擇頻帶的一特性(例如,路徑損失、負載、輸貫量、性能、後置網路)是不能接受的,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元決定與該特定多帶存取點解除聯結,或是透過一不同的頻帶繼續與該特定多帶存取點聯結。

此後,該術語”無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)”包含但不侷限為一使用者配備(UE)、移動站、固定式或移動式用戶單元、呼叫器,或是具有在無線環境中操作能力的任何其他裝置形式。這樣的無線傳輸/接收單元包含但不侷限為電話、影像電話、網際網路預備電話,以及具有網路性能無線數據機的個人資料助理(PDA)及筆記本電腦。
當此後談到術語”存取點(AP)”其包含但不侷限為一節點B、基站、位置控制器,或是可以在無線環境中提供與該存取點所聯結其他無線傳輸/接收單元無線存取的任何其他介面裝置形式。
本發明適用於任何無線通訊系統,包含但不侷限為 以802.x為基礎的無線通訊系統。
第1圖顯示一種無線通訊系統100,其包含根據本發 明操作的複數個多帶存取點1051-105N與一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110。每個多帶存取點1051-105N與該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110都至少在兩個頻帶上操作。該多帶存取點1051-105N傳輸頻帶資訊1151-115N,其指示各別配置多帶存取點1051-105N所處不同多帶上而進行操作。每個多帶存取點1051-105N都包含一各別的收發機1201-120N與一各別的處理器1251-125N。每個各別的收發機1201-120N則配置以在至少兩個不同的頻帶上操作。每個各別的處理器1251-125N則產生並安排該各別頻帶資訊1151-115N,並將其提供至該收發機1201-120N以進行傳輸。該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110也包含一收發機130與一處理器135。該收發機130則配置以在至少兩個不同的頻帶上操作。該處理器135處理由該收發機130從該多帶存取點1051-105N所接收的頻帶資訊1151-115N,根據該頻帶資訊1151-115N選擇一聯結多帶存取點105,以及與該選擇多帶存取點105通訊的使用頻帶。
該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110與該多帶存取點 1051-105N可以使用任何的管理、控制或資料封包,以提供該頻帶資訊至該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110。舉例而言,一種認證訊框(歧視一種管理訊框)也可以用來傳送多頻帶資訊。同樣的,該封包可以在任何目前或未來的無線區域網路封包上運送。
替代的,也可以利用在該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110 與該多帶存取點1051-105N之間的私有信息交換,以提供該頻帶資訊至該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110。
第2圖顯示一種示範的信標訊框,其包括從每個多 帶存取點1051-105N傳輸至第1圖中無線通訊系統100多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110的頻帶資訊115。該頻帶資訊115指示一特定多帶存取點105是否支援多頻帶2051-205N、通道數目215與時脈資訊220或其他等等。
該頻帶資訊115可以另外包含對於每個頻帶 2051-205N的品質度量資訊2101-210N。該品質度量資訊可以包含但不侷限為每個頻帶上的路徑損失、負載(例如,聯結無線通訊系統100的數目)、輸貫量、性能與後置網路。
第3圖為根據從該多帶存取點1051-105N傳輸至該多 帶無線傳輸/接收單元110的頻帶資訊1151-115N,於第1圖無線通訊系統100中特定多帶存取點1051-105N之一與該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110之間建立無線通訊鏈結的處理300流程圖。在步驟305中,複數多帶存取點1051-105N廣播關於所配置各別多帶存取點1051-105N所處多頻帶上進行操作的頻帶資訊1151-115N。如同第2圖所顯示,該頻帶資訊1151-115N可以於一信標訊框內廣播。在步驟310中,一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110接收並處理該頻帶資訊1151-115N。在步驟315中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110根據該頻帶資訊1151-115N從多帶存取點1051-105N選擇特定之一以進行聯結,以及與所選擇多帶存取點105進行通訊的使用頻帶。
第4圖為根據本發明,由該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元 100決定是否改變用來與一多帶存取點105進行通訊的特定頻帶,或是與一不同的多帶存取點105進行聯結的處理400流程圖。在步驟405中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100與一特定多帶存取點105於一特定頻帶上聯結。在步驟410中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100從該特定多帶存取點105接收頻帶資訊115,其包含指示該特定頻帶具有例如像是不足輸貫量的品質度量。在步驟415中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100與該多帶存取點105解除聯結並且另一多帶存取點105聯結,或是繼續與該相同的多帶存取點105透過一包含指示良好(例如,高)輸貫量品質度量頻帶資訊115的不同頻帶聯結。
第5圖為根據本發明,用以透過一更佳的頻帶,在 該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元與一更佳的多帶存取點之間建立無線通訊鏈結的處理500流程圖。在步驟505中,一多帶無線傳輸/接收 單元100廣播由複數個多帶存取點1051-105N所接收的一聯結請求封包或探查請求封包。該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100可以在該封包中包含對於多帶性能與該無線傳輸/接收單元100相關資訊的指示。在步驟510中,每個多帶存取點1051-105N都傳送一聯結回應封包或探查回應封包至該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100,其包含根據該無線傳輸/接收單元100多帶性能的頻帶資訊1151-115N。在步驟515中,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元100根據該頻帶資訊1151-115N,選擇一更佳的頻帶及更佳的聯結多帶存取點105。
該另一實施例中,該無線通訊系統100除該多帶存 取點1051-105N與該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元104a以外,也可以包含一單帶存取點與一單帶無線傳輸/接收單元。如果該單帶無線傳輸/接收單元與一多帶存取點105聯結,有關該多帶存取點105多頻帶的資訊,其與有關該配置單帶無線傳輸/接收單元進行操作所處頻帶的資訊所不同,則因為該單帶無線傳輸/接收單元並非配置以在多頻帶上通訊,而由該單帶無線傳輸/接收單元所忽略。該單帶存取點在一信標訊框中廣播關於其單頻帶的資訊(像是時脈、負載,或其他等等)。一單帶無線傳輸/接收單元與一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110兩者都可以使用此資訊,以決定是否與該單帶存取點進行聯結。
根據本發明,該多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110掃瞄不 同頻帶以尋找聯結的適當存取點時並不需要耗費顯著時間與電池電力。此外,藉由提供具有每個頻帶品質度量(像是輸貫量)的多帶無線傳輸/接收單元110,該無線傳輸/接收單元不但可以將其本身的輸貫量最佳化,也可以將該存取點105的輸貫量最佳化。

Claims (4)

  1. 使用於一多帶無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)的裝置,該裝置包含:傳送包括關於該WTRU的一多頻率性能的頻帶資訊的一探查請求至一第一及一第二多帶存取點(AP);接收關於該第一多帶存取點所支援的多頻帶的資訊來回應在該探查請求中的該頻帶資訊,該多頻帶包括一第一頻帶及一第二頻帶;接收關於該第二多帶存取點所支援的多頻帶的頻帶資訊來回應在該探查請求中的該頻帶資訊;在該WTRU與該第一頻帶上的該第一存取點相關聯的條件下,作出要關聯於該第二頻帶上的該第一存取點或關聯於由該第二存取點所支援的該多頻帶的其中之一上的該第二存取點的一決定;以及根據該決定重新配置以通訊。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的方法,其中關於該第一存取點所支援的多頻率的該頻帶資訊在一信標訊框中被接收。
