Abstract

This invention relates to a driving mechanism for electric bicycle (1), particularly to a driving device affixed to a special spatial combination at a pedal shaft of the electric bicycle. The driving device includes two one-way transmission components, two bushings, plural pairs of bushings and a front sprocket. The driving device is affixed to a set of transmission component and a set of pedal rotating component. The transmission component can be a pulley set, a sprocket set of a gear set. The transmission component is connected to an electric motor to facilitate electrical power transmission. While assembling the motor and the transmission component, the transmission component can be parallel or normal to the pedal driving shaft. One of the bushings affixed and connects to the front sprocket. The two one-way transmission components transmit electrical power and pedaling power to the bushings and sprocket, respectively, in order to transmit the driving force to the rear wheel via a chain thereby driving the bicycle. This invention is characterized in its simple structure and low manufacturing cost. Further, the front sprocket and transmission component are symmetrical about a vertical axis, such that, only the center of gravity of the vehicle is at a central plane, and there is still sufficient space for driving device. Furthermore, the driving device can fully utilize a gearshift device so as to reduce electrical power consumption, to increase traveling distance and slope climbing capability. At the same time, electrical power driving the bicycle can assist the pedaling power. When there is no electrical power assistance and thus being driven by pedaling, the bicycle is ridden as a conventional bicycle without the need of the driving motor and irrelevant transmission components. If a clutch device is added, the user of the electric bicycle can also perform rehabilitation exercises at the time of using the electric motor to drive the bicycle.
