Abstract

The present invention aims to provide an optical disc inspecting apparatus and an optical disc inspecting method capable of accurately check if the address error between two adjacent recording layers at the same radius position in a recordable optical disc having a plurality of recording layers falls within a required specification. An inspection mean (112) is employed to find a maximum allowable error address containing the maximum allowable error of a layer-1 track position corresponding to a recording-start address (or recording-end address) pre-recorded in a layer-0 recording area at the same radius position. If a layer-1 address read by an address demodulation mean (113) is the layer-1 maximum allowable error address and a signal level obtained by a signal detection mean (111) is the same as a predetermined level obtained from a layer-0 reflective radiance in a layer-0 recording area (301), the inspection mean (112) regards the structure of the optical disc meeting the required specification.
