Abstract

An image pickup apparatus is used for picking up the image of an object to be displayed. The image pickup apparatus includes a circuit board; an image sensing element coupled to the circuit board with a first plane and forming an electric signal varying with the optical signal intensity projected or reflected by the object on a second plane thereof; a lens for receiving and focusing the optical signal onto the second plane of the image sensing element; and a securing unit for supporting and securing the lens onto the circuit board. The securing unit has at least two surfaces deflecting from each other and orienting in parallel to the optical axis of the lens for contact with two difference surfaces of the image sensing element, thereby assuring the alignment of the optical axis of lens with the central point of the second plane of the image sensing element. The securing unit further has three points non-linearly disposed in a surface perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens for contact with the second plane of the image sensing element.
