The invention provides a method and device to decide the erasure power of rewritable CD, which comprises steps, first set multiple erasure testing powers for CD; use one appointed CD write power and multiple erasure testing powers to run write testing for CD, obtain erasure testing power parameter corresponding to every CD, which reflects CD erasure effect, such as the shake value of data to clock; build variant relation of the parameter and CD erasure testing power according to erasure testing power and corresponding parameter to determine an erasure power for the rewritable CD. The corresponding variant relation comprises a parabolic relation about the parameter and erasure testing power; by the relation, obtain an optimum erasure power on particular write condition. Using the determined CD erasure power to rewrite CD is more complete and reliable.
