Abstract

This invention relates to an electrolysis-aided zeolite absorption method for removing ammonia nitrogen. It is equipped with one two-bath electrolyzer and one ziolite absorption device. The ammonia nitrogen liquid is placed into the two-bath electrolyzer for performing electrolysis reaction so as to make the ammonia nitrogen in the two baths become acidic state and alkali state respectively. The ammonia nitrogen in the acidic environment will exist in the form of ionized ammonia, NH4+ which can be more easily removed by using ziolite absorption method. Meanwhile, the ammonia nitrogen in alkali environment will exist in the form of free ammonia, NH3 that can be removed by stripping method. After the treatment, the acidic and alkali solutions are mixed together to become a neutral solution that can be drained to ambience. Using this electrolysis-aided zeolite absorption method, the overall efficiency of removing the ammonia nitrogen can be increased effectively. Moreover, the saturated zeolite can be recovered by reversing the polarities of electrodes; therefore, both the consumption of the absorption material and the cost of recovery are quite low. In addition, since no additives are needed in the process, the treatment cost is very low too.
