A new cellular search algorithm of video image coding is introduced. The invented new cellular search algorithm (NCS) is like the assumption of a general block searching method, the error between the current block and candidate block is larger if the candidate block is more far away optimized match block in a search window and the error between the current block and candidate block is smaller if the candidate block is more close to optimized match block. And use specific search diagrammed HCSP and VCSP to search for needed compared points and to compare the process needed block, so as effectively reduce search point counts of the cellular search algorithm. Therefore, the image block comparison is more rapid and great benefit for improving video compression and decompression technology is achieved.
