Abstract

A process for manipulating the edge of a floating glass ribbon comprises a step mounting an edge pinion (1) on a distant end of a port of transmission (2) provided with a longitudinal axe and suppored within a cylinder (4) allowing a rotation around the longitudinal axe (3), and a step positioning the pinion by means of a movement of penetration of the roller caused by the shift of the cylinder near or away from a bath, a movement of mounting/dismounting of the cylinder and a movement of the cylinder around a horizontal axe, by which the port obtain diverse angular positions in a vertical plan, said movement of penetration of the pinion being accomplished by the shift of the cylinder near or away from a bath along the longitudinal axe (3) of the port (2) in all the said angular positions of the port.
