The present invention provides a manufacturing method for a fluorescent lamp capable of reducing a drying time for a phosphor coating liquid and preventing its uneven application. This manufacturing method for a fluorescent lamp includes a process for applying the phosphor coating liquid to the inner circumferential face of a straight glass tube 11 in a suspended attitude and a process for blowing drying air 12 from the upper end of the glass tube 11 to the inside for drying the phosphor coating liquid while discharging it. Drying is carried out while a peripheral temperature in at least a part of the glass tube 11 positioned above a reference point T is maintained at 35 DEG C or higher, and a peripheral temperature of the glass tube 11 positioned below the reference point T is maintained at 35 DEG C or below. A flow rate of the drying air 12 ranges 16-80 cm<SP>3</SP>/min/mm<SP>2</SP>per a unit cross-sectional area of a cross section vertical to the center axis of the glass tube 11.
