Abstract

The present intention provides a powder containing carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers and a method for manufacturing the power. The powder containing carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers consists of a carrier and carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers. The carrier is a particle with size of about micro-meter (μm), such as Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, CaO, SiC, WC and acrylic polymer etc. The carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers are grown on the surface of the carrier by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique, their diameters are from several nanometers to several tens of nanometers. The carbon nanotubes are multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and have curved shape. The method for manufacturing the power containing nanotubes or carbon nanofibers includes the following steps: preparation process, sensitization process, activation process, electroless process and growth process. The powder containing carbon nanotubes or carbon nanofibers according to the present invention can be used to treat various environmental pollutants in air, water, mud, or soil.
