Abstract

The present invention relates to an image compression/decompression structure using discrete wavelet transform (DWT), wherein the DWT technology is utilized to increase the compression ratio of the input image. Also, the zero-tree coding is utilized to reduce the amount of data required for coding/decoding the input image, so that the compression speed of the input image can be increased, and the data mount during data transmission can be reduced in cooperation with the frame interpolation compensation compression technology. During executing the quantization processing, the step value can be set to set the compression ratio of coding/decoding. Thus, not only the image can have less distortion, but the data amount of image and computation processing time can also be reduced, so as to realize the purpose of real-time image transmission.
