Abstract

The industrial production of boron oxide is realized by melting the boric acid in 550-1,000 degrees C. In the known processes, the glassy solution is cooled down until it solidifies, then it's broken and screened to obtain the required size and particle distribution. The melting of the boric acid is the most critical and expensive part of the production process. Because the melted boron oxide requires a high temperature and it harms the bricks and the metal parts of the oven. In our invention, the industrial production of the boron oxide is realized without a melting stage or the other steps mentioned above. In this new production method, the transformation of boric acid to boron oxide is realized in two stages in a vibrating fluid bed, first by transforming the boric acid to metaboric acid and then by heating it until 250 degrees C. In the first stage, at first a metaboric acid bed is created and this bed being continuously fed with boric acid, metaboric acid is obtained. In the second stage, the boron oxide is obtained from the metaboric acid flowing on the boron oxide created in the bed. The melting. (Continued)
