(54) ELECTRON CAPTURE DETECTOR FOR Pelvic Chromatography
5;. -I. The invention relates to gas chromatographic and can be used in the analysis of gas mixtures containing halogenated hydrocarbons and, in particular, pesticides. Known electron capture detector for gas chromotographnn containing Korus, a cylindrical electrode mounted inside the housing and electrically isolated from it, an ionization source, such as Ni foil, placed on the inner walls of the cylindrical electrode, a collector electrode made in the form of a rod, and installed inside the cylindrical electrode is coaxial to it, the channel for supplying the analyzed gas to the ionization zone and the channel for removing gas from the housing. The disadvantage of this design is electron-capture Its detector is that it has a low sensitivity. This is due to the combination in the detector: the capture zone of electrons, the recombination zone of negative ions, and the collection region of electrons. As a result, the electrons formed in the process of ionization of the carrier gas, have a significant acceleration due to the field and are in the detector volume for a short time, which reduces the likelihood of their capture by the analyte molecules. In addition, a significant part of the negative ions formed by the capture of electrons recombines on the surface of the collector electrode. . To increase the sensitivity of the detectors of this design, argon is used as the carrier carrier with the addition of methane to the detector volume. Methane molecules reduce the energy of free electrons through inelastic collisions, thereby increasing the likelihood of electrons being captured by analyte molecules. For the same purpose, pulsed power is used. In this case, the probability of the capture of electrons in the recombination of ions in the volume rises sharply in the intervals between kmpulsamy in the absence of polarizing voltage. 3 However, the use of these methods to enhance the sensitivity is inconvenient. The closest in technical essence and the achieved result to the proposed detector is the so-called asymmetric electron-capture detector, comprising a housing, a cylindrical potential electrode installed inside the housing and electrically isolated from it, an ionization source placed on the inner walls of the cylindrical electrode, collector an electrode installed outside the ionization zone, a channel for supplying the analyzed gas to the ionization zone, a channel for the discharge of gas from the housing. In this detector, free electrons forming with in the ionization zone drift to the collector electrode against the flow of the carrier gas carrying the analytes. This increases the likelihood of the electrons being captured by the analyte molecules and recombining them with positive ions of the carrier gas, reduces the proportion of negative ions recombining on the surface of the collector electrode, and therefore increases the sensitivity of detection. However, the design of this detector is such that the collector electrode is connected to the housing and potential insulators by electrically insulators located in the hottest area of the detector and directly in contact with the analyzed properties. The dependence of the electrical resistance of insulators on temperature and surface contamination gradually leads to significant leaks and, consequently, to a deterioration in the stability of the background current, an increase in the level of noise and a decrease in sensitivity, especially when analyzing substances with high boiling points. the camera and housing of an electrically isolated insulator having significant linear dimensions (in order to improve electrical insulation and, as a rule, high thermal insulation properties, the drive This means that the ionization chamber has a temperature significantly lower than the housing, which can cause condensation of analyzable substances on the surface of the ionizing radiation source and, as a result, destabilization of the background current and a decrease in sensitivity. In this connection, there is a need for an additional heater of a special design, which is installed inside the detector housing next to a cylindrical electrode, h Oba avoid hurting condensation. vapor in the ionization zone. This leads to the complexity of the design. The purpose of the invention is to increase the sensitivity of the detector, reduce the noise level and simplify the design of the detector. This goal is achieved by the fact that in an electron-gas detector for gas chromatography, comprising a housing, a potential cylindrical electrode installed inside the housing and electrically isolated from it, an ionization source placed on the inner walls of the potential cylindrical electrode, a collector electrode mounted outside the ionization zone, the channel for supplying the analyzed gas to the ionization zone and the channel for the discharge of gas from the housing, the collector electrode is made in the form of a cylindrical cup, installed potential claimed coaxially cylindrical electrode so that the internal nozzle wall to form an annular gap with the outer walls of the cylindrical electrode potential, and a channel for supplying the sample gas into the ionization zone is formed as a nozzle, is electrically insulated from the housing. I Due to the specified design features of the detector, the analyzed gas enters the central part of the ionization zone, where there is a maximum concentration of free electrons. At the same time, free electrons drift in an electric field in the direction of flow. the carrier gas to the collector electrode and with a sufficient length of the ionization zone provides a high degree of capture of free electrons by molecules of substances with electron affinity, and effective recombination. In this case, the collector electrode is installed at the exit of the ionization zone and is isolated from the potential electrode by an air gap. The isolator, which coincides with the housing, is in the cold zone and does not have contact with the analyte. Thus, the proposed detector realizes all the advantages of an asymmetric design and eliminates its drawbacks. The drawing shows the proposed detector, a cross-section. The detector includes a housing 1 in which a potential cylindrical electrode 2 is installed, on the inner walls of which a source of 3/3 radiation is placed. The potential cylindrical electrode 2 is fixed on the channel 4 for supplying the analyzed gas from the chromatographic column (not shown), which is made in the form of a nozzle separated from the gas supply channel 5

The collector electrode b using a current lead. 7 is connected to the input of an electrometric amplifier (not shown), and the potential cylindrical electrode 2c is connected to a DC or pulse voltage source by means of a current lead 8. The housing 1 is provided with a fitting 9 for discharging gas to the atmosphere.

The background current decreases due to the capture of free electrons by the analyte molecules and the subsequent recombination of the formation of negative ions with positive ions of the carrier gas, resulting in a flow of free electrons.

The electrical insulation between the collector electrode and the housing in any mode of operation of the detector maintains the highest quality, since the insulator is located in the cold zone, has no contact with the analyzed substances and, therefore, is not contaminated. зирующее вли ние изол щ1и между электродами .35 The collector electrode does not have a mechanical contact with a cylindrical (potential) electrode, the electrical connection between them takes place only through the field, while in the known detector Q the electrodes are connected not only by field, but also by an insulator located in the mountains whose zone and in contact with the analyzed substance. Thus, in the proposed detector, destabilide is eliminated. the insulating influence between the electrodes.
This insulator is made in the form of a thin layer of glass enamel and has virtually no effect on the analyte, i.e. Sorption and destruction of the substance being analyzed are excluded. In addition, this insulator practically does not deteriorate the thermal contact between the cylindrical
