Данный способ позвол ет определить .коэффициент Пуассона малопластичных материалов , снижает трудоемкость измерений, кроме того, измерени  не завис т от геометрических размеров исследуемых образцов, что позвол ет повысить точность измерений и уменьшить требовани  к точности изготовлени  образцов.
