Весьма часто отсчеты на лимбе (или шкале) производ т с помощью лупы по индексу или ноииусу. Если плоскости лимба и нониуса не совпадают , образу  незначительный зазор , то при измерени х по вл ютс  ошибки от «параллакса, исчезающие лишь в случае полного совпадени  обеих упом нутых плоскостей. Однако полное устранение зазора невозможно, если индекс скользит по шкале, а жела  предохранить шкалу от порчи, мир тс  с зазором определенной величины, что не может не сказатьс  на точности измерений .Quite often, counts on the limb (or scale) are produced with a magnifying glass by index or loop. Чтобы повысить точность измерений рекомендуетс  отсчеты по лимбу или шкале производить не по индексу , а по его оптическому изображению , которое можно точно совместить с плоскостью лимба (или шкалы). Дл  получени  изображени  индекса предлагаетс  под отсчетную лупу L (фиг. 1 и 2) поместить фотометрический кубик С, .на правой грани которого нанесен индекс /, наход щийс  -против посеребренной части 5 кубика.
