Развитие черной .металлургии обусловливает получение громадного количества отходов производства - основных и кислых доменных шлаков, используемых в качестве строительных материалов, совершенно недостаточно . Так, например, использование шлаков в качестве добавок к портландгцементу , извести или использование в виде заполнител  бетонных штучных изделий составл ют ничтожную долю их выпуска, что отчасти объ сн етс  сравнительно невысокими гидравлическими свойствами известково-шлаковых и шлако-портландцементов или строительными-шлакобетонных изделий.The development of ferrous metallurgy makes it possible to obtain an enormous amount of industrial waste — basic and acid blast-furnace slags used as building materials are completely inadequate.
