Description
The invention relates to the field of gas analysis, more specifically to an analysis using ultraviolet radiation to ionize impurities in gases, and can be used, for example, as a detector in gas chromatography.
Известен фотоионизационный детектор , содержащий корпус, безэлектродную высокочастотную разр дную лампу, два электрода и линию подачи анализируемых веществ в потоке газа-носител .A photoionization detector is known, comprising a housing, an electrodeless high-frequency discharge lamp, two electrodes, and a supply line for analytes in a carrier gas stream.
The disadvantages of the detector are the lack of heating in the ionization region and the lack of cooling of the UV lamp, which leads to instability of the input of the continuous operation of the detector and substantially limits its use for highly volatile substances.
Известен детектор, содержащий корпус , разр дную лампу, два электрода, линию подачи охлаждающего -газа и линию подачи анализируемых веществ в потоке газа-носител .A known detector comprising a housing, a discharge lamp, two electrodes, a cooling gas-supply line and a supply line of analytes in a carrier gas stream.
The disadvantages of the known detector are the lack of heating of the ionization region and the possibility of analytes being exposed to the radiating surface of the UV lamp. During continuous operation, both the electrodes and the radiating surface of the lamp (its window) are contaminated, which leads to instability in the work (readings) of the detector and a decrease in its sensitivity over time. In addition, this detector can only be used for analyzing volatile substances.

Целью изобретени вл етс уменьшение колебаний чувствительности детектора, св занных с изменением прозрачности окна лампьи и увеличение точности детектировани .The aim of the invention is to reduce fluctuations in the sensitivity of the detector associated with changes in the transparency of the lamp window and to increase the accuracy of detection.
In the photoionization detector, which contains a housing, a discharge UV lamp, an ionization chamber with electrodes installed in it, an additional gas flow supply channel and an analyte supply channel, the detector housing is made of two parts insulated from one another, one of which is cooled by UV -lamp, in another there is a heated ionization chamber, while in the heat-insulating partition there is a branching channel for supplying additional gas flow to cool the discharge lamp and shielding its window, and the exit channel of the screening stream is connected through the cavity of the ionization chamber to the feed channel of the gas stream with the analyte.
Making the detector body of two thermally insulated parts, in one of which a cooled UV lamp is installed, and in the other a heated ionization chamber is located, it improves the stability of the photoionization detector due to thermal insulation and cooling of the lamp. Improving the stability of the detector is also achieved by protecting the window of the UV lamp from contamination by low volatile compounds or their decomposition products by shielding the window of the lamp with part of the additional gas NOKok entering the cavity of the ionization chamber (the other part goes to cooling the lamp).
The drawing schematically shows a detector, a slit.
The detector contains a case 1, a UV lamp 2 cooled by a stream of gas supplied through branching channel 3, a heated ionization chamber 4, in which an electrode 5 is located a gasket 6 of thermally insulating material between the case 1 of the lamp 2 and the ionization chamber 4.
The analytes are supplied to the ionization chamber 4 through the channel 7 in the carrier gas flow. In the housing 1 of the UV lamp 2 and the ionization chamber 4 there are openings 8 and -9 for the gas to exit, respectively.
The detector works as follows.
The analytes are fed into the heated ionization chamber 4 through the channel
7 filing. In the chamber 4, under the influence of the radiation of the UV lamp 2, they are ionized. The resulting ions create a current in the measuring circuit of the electrodes 5. During operation, channel 3 is continuously supplied
Охлаждающий газ выходит из детектора через отверстие 8 в кожух 1 лампы и отверстие 9 в камере 4 ионизации.the flow of cooling gas, most of which enters the casing 1 and cools the UV lamp 2. A part of the flow of cooling gas enters the ionization chamber 4 and prevents the vapor of the analytes from entering the surface of the window of the UV lamp 2. The cooling gas leaves the detector through the hole 8 in the lamp case 1 and the hole 9 in the ionization chamber 4.
