Description
The invention relates to a measurement technique and can be used to control the thickness of ice in natural and laboratory conditions.
The purpose of the invention is to expand the measurement range and increase the productivity of the method by measuring at a frequency at which the dielectric constant of ice is constant.
The drawing shows an apparatus for carrying out the method.
The method is carried out as follows.
The flat electrode 2 of the measuring capacitor is mounted on the surface of the ice 1 so that it can move. In order to maintain a constant gap d between the surface of the ice 1 and the electrode 2 of the measuring capacitor, the latter is placed on the rollers 3 of the same diameter. The use of rollers 3 also facilitates the movement of electrode 2 along the surface of ice 1 and during the transition to the control of new sections of the latter. To ensure contact with the subglacial water 4 used as the electrode of the measuring capacitor, SERVE auxiliary electrode 5. Electrode 2 and auxiliary electrode b are connected to unit 6, designed to measure the capacitance of the measuring capacitor, the dielectric of which is ice 1, and air gap and plates - electrode 2 and under-ice water 4. Recorder 7 is connected to the output of block 6. The capacitance is measured at a frequency of f 108 Hz, at which the dielectric constant of ice does not depend on the frequency of the supply voltage, nor on the ambient temperature,
т.е. Расчет толщины а льда при этом производитс по формулеthose. is a constant value that does not require additional control. The calculation of the thickness a of ice in this case is made by the formula

где Јi - диэлектрическа проницаемость воздуха;where Јi is the dielectric constant of the air;
Ј2 - диэлектрическа проницаемость льда, равна 3, 2 и посто нна по величине при частоте питани f 108 Гц;Ј2 is the dielectric constant of ice, equal to 3, 2 and constant in magnitude at a feed frequency of f 108 Hz;

Thus, the controlled electrical capacitance of the measuring capacitor unambiguously depends on the thickness of the dielectric, which is ice.
Eliminating the need to make additional measurements to eliminate the effect of changes in the dielectric constant of ice significantly increases productivity and extends the measurement range.
