Abstract
The invention relates to a measurement technique and serves to detect detonation in internal combustion engines (ICE) with spark ignition. The aim of the invention is to increase the reliability of the identification of detonation in ICE. The method for determining detonation in an internal combustion engine consists in using the sensor to detect oscillations of, for example, the walls of the combustion chamber in at least one particular range corresponding to the frequency of oscillations during detonation, filter these oscillations, form the envelope of this signal, and then compare it with a reference signal defined in the same frequency range, and based on an estimate of the shape of the compared curves, it is concluded that there is a detonation in the engine. As a reference, a signal in the form of an envelope obtained by averaging a series of envelopes of the sensor signals determined when the engine is operating in detonation mode is used. Since the detonation in the engine combustion chamber, perceived by the vibration sensor, is most fully characterized by the shape of the envelope of the process of oscillation change, and not by the amplitude of the individual components, the proposed method provides an increase in the reliability of the identification of detonation. 4 il.

12.The method can be implemented with a device containing a detonation sensor 1, for example, a piezoelectric accelerometer for detecting oscillations of the walls of the combustion chamber connected via at least one band-pass filter 2 to the envelope shaping unit 3, which includes a peak detector and a low-pass filter, the crank position sensor 4 shaft and microprocessor-analytical unit consisting of analog-digital converter 5 (ADC), arithmetic-logical unit b (ALU), permanent memory device 7 (P Memory), random access memory 8 (RAM), timer 9, and also input 10 and output 11 interfaces. The interconnected operation of these devices is carried out by means of a switch 12.
The method is carried out as follows.
З). В момент возможного возникновени детонации, определ емый с помощью датчика 4 положени коленчатого вЬла, из ПЗУ 7 микропроцессорного устройства считываетс эталонный сигнал, соответствующий усредненному значению процесса изменени величины колебаний характеризующий форму огибающей при наличии детонации .The oscillations of the walls of the combustion chamber arising during the operation of the engine are recorded by sensor 1 (curve 13, FIG. 3). By means of a bandpass filter 2, this signal is filtered in one of the frequency ranges most characteristic of detonation combustion. Then, the envelope of this signal is selected from curve envelope shaping unit 3 (curve 14, FIG. 3). At the time of possible detonation, determined by the crankshaft position sensor 4, from the microprocessor device ROM 7 a reference signal is read that corresponds to the averaged value of the process of changing the oscillation magnitude characterizing the shape of the envelope in the presence of detonation.
This reference signal is pre-obtained as follows. The engine operating in a known detonation mode is investigated in the manner described above: gas damping pressure oscillations arising from detonation in the combustion chamber in the frequency range 5-20 kHz are sensed by sensor 1, separated by band-pass filter 2 and processed by block 3 forming the envelope 15 of the signal. From the series of envelopes 16 thus obtained, the average arithmetic function of the envelope 17 is determined using mathematical processing (Fig. 4). The converted ADC 5 is written to ROM 7 and is the reference signal characterizing

If the Eotn value determined in this way does not exceed a certain minimum deviation of the shape of E0tn, for example, 0.5, then the cycle is classified as detonation and the output device of the microprocessor unit generates a detonation signal, which can be used to adjust the ignition advance angle
The reliability of knock identification can be improved by analyzing the signal of the knock sensor over several frequency ranges characteristic of detonation combustion. For this, the system is additionally equipped with bandpass filters and devices for selecting the signal envelope in these frequency ranges. In the ALU, each resulting envelope is compared with its corresponding reference. The output control signal for the presence of detonation is formed only
при положительном решении о наличии детонации во всех измерительных каналах одновременно .with a positive decision about the presence of detonation in all measuring channels simultaneously.
Улучшенна помехозащищенность способствует повышению чувствительности и, следовательно, повышает достоверность идентификации детонации .Thus, according to the proposed method, the decision on the presence of detonation is made on the basis of a comparison of the shape of the signal envelope with the reference form characteristic of the presence of detonation, which is most fully characterized not by the amplitude of the individual components perceived by the vibration sensor, but by the shape of the envelope of the process of changing these vibrations. Signals perceived by the sensor from various sources of background noise of a non-detonation nature, even at equal amplitude values with the reference signal, due to the difference in the shape of the envelope will not be identified as detonation. Improved noise immunity contributes to an increase in sensitivity and, consequently, increases the reliability of knock identification.
