The purpose of the invention is to increase the reliability and accuracy of the long-term forecast. The method is based on the registration by the network of seismic stations of earthquakes and tracking the development of the seismic process. For this, the registration of weak earthquakes is performed in control seismically active zones located close to a large main zone, in which a strong earthquake is predicted. For control zones on the basis of instrumental measurements, synthetic maps of the extent of the development of a seismic process are compiled, and in the main zone there is an area for preparing a large earthquake area of 1 block.
