SUBSTANCE: catalyst is prepared by impregnating alumina with aqueous solution of platinum compound or with that and promoters in presence of hydrochloric acid or its mixture with sulfuric acid and formic acid in amount 0.5-4.0 wt %, the latter being taken in the mixture with 0.5-10 wt % hydrogen peroxide at molar ratio of formic acid to hydrogen peroxide 1:(1-10). Catalyst thus obtained is dried and calcined in the air flow. When used in the reforming process, catalyst ensures increase in yield of gasoline with octane number 84.9 up to 94 wt %.
