Description
The invention relates to electrochemical production, in particular to the production of chlorine and alkalis by the membrane method, and allows to obtain a solution of alkalis with an impurity content at the level of the product obtained by the method using a mercury cathode, and to refuse to use expensive and scarce mercury, decides environmental protection tasks.
расходом энергии.- According to a known method of producing alkali metal chlorine and hydroxide by electrolyzing an alkali metal chloride solution in an electrolyzer with an ion exchange membrane separating catholyte and anolyte, the electrolysis process is carried out without feeding water into the cathode space and maintaining an alkali metal hydroxide concentration in the catholyte 44-60 wt. but the operation of maintaining a given concentration of hydroxide in catholyte requires special equipment and reagents, which complicates the process. To maintain the specified concentration of hydroxide, an inert gas is passed through the catholyte, or solid alkali is added, or a partial evaporation of the solution is carried out. The process as a whole is characterized by a higher energy consumption.
The purpose of the invention is to simplify the process by eliminating techniques that ensure the maintenance of a given concentration of hydroxide in catholyte, and reducing energy consumption.
Example. The thermostatted measuring cell has an anode chamber with a volume of 1 l, in which a removable cathode tube is attached. The anode chamber is provided with a perforated ruthenium oxide anode and is filled with a salt solution of the required concentration before measurements. The cathode cup is supplied with a perforated stainless steel cathode and filled with 2 ml of alkali of the desired concentration. An ion exchange membrane with a working surface of 12.56 cm is fixed in a cathode beaker made of titanium and fluoroplastic rifled sleeves.
When measuring, a current load of 1.26 A is maintained, which corresponds to a current density on the membrane of 1000 A / m. To maintain constant

During the electrolysis, the anolyte was continuously injected with an anolyte, for which a salt solution (brine) is fed into the anode chamber from a pressure bottle at a constant rate. The brine feed rate (concentration 5.5 mol / l) is selected based on the required anolyte concentration, and is 44 ml / h for the first test, 53 ml / h for the second, third for 96 ml / h, 32 mp / h, p of that - 44 ml / h, sixth - 96 ml / h and the seventh - 24 ml / h.
При каждой заданной концентрации соли в анолите устанавливаетс соответствующа ей концентраци щелочи в католите .The selected anolyte is poured into a collection container. The accuracy of maintaining the anolyte concentration during electrolysis is 0.05 mol / L. At each predetermined salt concentration in the anolyte, an appropriate concentration of alkali in the catholyte is established.
1.The data obtained are presented in Table. one.
As can be seen from the table. 1, the voltage on the electrolyzer in the practical implementation of the proposed method of producing sodium hydroxide is 3.6-3.9 V (experiments 1-3) and 4.0 V by a known method (experiment 4), to obtain potassium hydroxide 3.3-3.6 V (experiments 5 and 6) by the proposed method and 3.6 V (experiment 7) by a known method. The insignificant gain in voltage during the electrolysis of potassium chloride is determined by the specific feature of potassium hydroxide solution, for which the maximum conductivity is precisely in the range of average concentrations - from 30 to 40 wt.%, And not higher concentrations. On average, the proposed method provides a reduction in voltage on the electrolyzer at 0, 1 V.
The proposed method also improves the quality of xjlopa by increasing the concentration of alkali metal chloride in the anolyte.
In tab. Table 2 shows the quality of chlorine as a function of the chloride concentration in the anolyte under the conditions of the example described.
As can be seen from in
2 data, by increasing
The chloride concentration in the anolyte significantly improves the quality of chlorine.
Thus, the proposed method provides a simplified process and reduced energy consumption.,
