Doteraz sa operácia posuvu dverí vykonáva prevažne buď so spodným, alebo horným vedením. V závislosti od technického riešenia sa používa na výrobu posuvných dverí buď rámová konštrukcia, alebo bezrámová konštrukcia. Pri bezrámovej konštrukcii nosnú časť preberá výplň dverí, na ktorú sa montujú kolieska a vždy musí ísť o hrubšiu dverovú výplň (16,18 - 40mm).
