Description of Embodiments oo
In the following, one embodiment of a vehicle behavior analysis system according to the present invention is described referring to the drawings.
A vehicle behavior analysis system 1 of the present embodiment is provided with: a vehicle behavior data collecting device 2 that is mounted in, for example, a : postal pickup and delivery vehicle, which is a two-wheeled vehicle or a four-wheeled vehicle, and can record information on driving of the vehicle as behavior data; and a vehicle behavior analysis device 3 for analyzing the behavior data recorded by the vehicle behavior data collecting device.
A driving recorder 2 as the vehicle behavior data collecting device according to the present embodiment is, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, one that records vehicle behavior, a surrounding situation, an operating situation, and the like, and provided with a sampling part 21, removable recording means 22, information processing means 23, auxiliary power supply 24, and the like, and a single casing (not illustrated)
retaining them. In addition, the driving recorder 2 of the present embodiment is, in the case of the two-wheeled vehicle, provided such that an image receiving surface of after- mentioned imaging means faces forward on an upper part of a headlight of the vehicle, and in the case of the four-wheeled vehicle, provided such that the image receiving surface of the imaging means face forward through a windshield. :
The sampling part 21 is, as illustrated in FIG. 1, one that senses the vehicle behavior, surrounding situation, operating situation, and the like to output behavior data indicating contents of them, and in this case, uses at least three types of devices including a CCD camera 21a as the imaging means, an acceleration sensor 21b, and a
GPS receiver 21c as a position sensor.
The CCD camera 21a is one that images a situation of a forward area of the. vehicle to, as the behavior data, output moving image data indicating an image of the forward area. The acceleration sensor 21b is configured with use of, for example, a piezoresistive effect, and one that senses one- to three-dimensional accelerations (for example, in the three dimensional case, longitudinal, lateral, and vertical accelerations) acting on the vehicle to, as the behavior data, output acceleration data indicating the accelerations. The GPS receiver 21c¢ is one that catches, for example, radio waves from a plurality of satellites to sense a position of the vehicle, and as the behavior data, outputs vehicle position data indicating the position.
Note that the behavior data additionally includes speed data transmitted from a vehicle speed sensor SM of the vehicle, brake data indicating on/off of brakes, and the like, which are received through a connector CN.
Further, this driving recorder 2 normally operates by being supplied with : electric power from a vehicle battery (vehicle side power supply, not illustrated) through the connector CN; however, in case that the power supply from the vehicle battery is stopped for some reason, the vehicle battery is automatically switched to the - auxiliary power supply 24, and the auxiliary power supply 24 supplies electric power - that is enough for the driving recorder 2 to operate at least for a certain period of time.
The removable recording means 22 refers here to a CF memory card that is removably fitted into a slot that opens laterally to the casing.
The information processing means 23 is a so-called computer circuit that, as : illustrated in FIG. 1, structurally has a CPU 23a, an internal memory 23b (e.g., ) 5 nonvolatile memory), an I/O buffer circuit 23¢ (may include an AD converter, and the like), and the like. Also, as illustrated in FIG. 2, the CPU 23a operates according to a program stored in a predetermined area of the internal memory 23b, and thereby the information processing means 23 controls the respective means and performs information processing to fulfill functions as a data receiving part 231, data recording part 232, data management part 233, and the like.
The data receiving part 231 is one that successively receive the behavior data, which is data on the vehicle behavior, surrounding situation, and the like, at regular sampling interval in chronological order, and transfers pieces of received behavior data to the internal memory 23b or/and the data recording part 232 provided in a predetermined area of the removable recording means.
Also, in the present embodiment, in the case where the pieces of behavior data are stored in the internal memory, the data management part 233 additionally has a function of transferring the pieces of behavior data to the removable recording means 22.
The vehicle behavior analysis device 3 is one that analyzes the pieces of behavior data recorded by the driving recorder 2, and a dedicated or general-purpose computer that, as illustrated in FIG. 3, structurally has a CPU 31, an internal memory 32 (e.g., nonvolatile memory), an I/O buffer circuit (may include an AD converter and the like) 33, input means 34 such as a keyboard, output means 35 such as a display, and the like. Also, as illustrated in FIG. 4, the CPU 31 operates according to a program stored in'a predetermined area of the internal memory 32, and thereby the vehicle behavior analysis device 3 controls the respective means and performs information processing to fulfill functions as a behavior data acquisition part 3a, map data storage part 3b, behavior data extraction part 3c, temporary stop determination part 3d, screen display part 3e, and the Tike. : :
The behavior data acquisition part 3a is one that acquires the pieces of behavior data recorded in the memory of the. driving recorder 2, and specifically, the pieces of behavior data stored in the data recording part 232 of the driving recorder 2 are transferred to the vehicle behavior analysis device 3 through the removable recording means 22, and recorded in the behavior data acquisition part 3a. Note that, in each of the pieces of behavior data, vehicle position data is related to image data and speed data at a vehicle position indicated by the vehicle position data.
The behavior data extraction part 3c acquires the pieces of behavior data recorded in the behavior data acquisition part 3a as well as acquiring map data stored in the map data storage part 3b.
Then, as illustrated in FIG. 5, from the map data, the behavior data extraction part 3c recognizes a temporary stop position X where the vehicle must temporarily stop, as well as setting a surrounding region SR including the temporary stop position X.
Note that FIG. 5 illustrates four temporary stop positions X, and also illustrates the surrounding region SR corresponding to one of them. Possible methods for oo recognizing the temporary stop position X include: a method that recognizes the : temporary stop position X by recognizing a position of a temporary stop line or a road sign (“Stop”) from the map data including pieces of position data on the temporary stop line, the road sign (“Stop”), a traffic light, and/or an intersection; a method that recognizes the temporary stop position X by recognizing a position of the traffic light; a ’ method that recognizes the temporary stop position X by recognizing the intersection, and other methods. Also, possible methods for setting the surrounding region SR include, for example, a method that, as the surrounding region SR, sets a region that centers the temporary stop position X and has a predetermined radius, a method that, as the surrounding region SR, sets a region having a diameter from a predetermined distance before the temporary stop position X to the temporary stop position X or to the predetermined distance after the temporary stop position X in a traveling direction with respect to the temporary stop position X, and other methods. Note that the predetermined radius or the predetermined distance may be made larger than a position error of each vehicle position data by a GPS. That is, in the case where the position error by the GPS is a few m, the predetermined radius or the predetermined distance may be set to a few tens m that is larger than a few m. In addition, the predetermined radius or the predetermined distance can be set or changed by a user with use of the input means 34.
Further, the behavior data extraction part 3c uses the map data and the pieces of vehicle position data respectively included in the pieces of behavior data to extract a series of pieces of behavior data acquired in the set surrounding region SR.
Specifically, the behavior data extraction part 3c determines whether or not a vehicle : position indicated by each of the pieces of vehicle position data is included in the surrounding region SR, and extracts the series of pieces of behavior data acquired during a period of time from entrance of the vehicle into the surrounding region SR to exit from the surrounding region SR. Then, the behavior data extraction part 3c outputs the series of pieces of extracted behavior data (hereinafter referred to as the pieces of extracted behavior data) to the temporary stop determination part 3d. ~ The temporary stop determination part 3d acquires the pieces of extracted behavior data, and for example, from pieces of speed data in the pieces of extracted behavior data, determines whether or not the vehicle temporarily stops at the temporary stop position
X.
The temporary stop may be determined from all of the pieces of extracted : behavior data; however, the present embodiment is adapted to, in order to make the stop determination at the temporary stop position X highly accurately at higher resolution than position specifying resolution of the GPS, combine position detection by the GPS with position detection by image recognition, and with use of specified behavior data obtained by further narrowing down the pieces of extracted behavior data, make the temporary stop determination.
Specifically, the temporary stop determination part 3d uses the image : recognition to detect the road sign (“Stop”) in an image indicated by image data included in each of the pieces of extracted behavior data; then highly accurately Co specifies that the vehicle is at or near the temporary stop position X; and specifies behavior data acquired at the time (hereinafter the behavior data is referred to as the “specified behavior data”). As illustrated in FIG. 6, in the case where in the image indicated by the image data, the road sign (“Stop”) is present ina predetermined region of the image, for example, present in a specific region WR set to the upper left half or the like, or in the case where the road sign (“Stop”) that appeared in the image has disappeared from the image (or the predetermined region), the temporary stop determination part 3d of the present embodiment further specifies extracted behavior data corresponding to such a case as the behavior data obtained when the vehicle was at or near the temporary stop position X.
Then, on the basis of speed data included in the specified behavior data, the temporary stop determination part 3d determines whether or not the vehicle temporarily stops. For example, in the case where a vehicle speed indicated by the speed data included in the specified behavior data is zero (km/h), it can be determined that the vehicle surely stops. In addition, even in the case where the vehicle speed is not zero (km/h), in the case where the vehicle speed is equal to or less than a predetermined value, and an acceleration is minus, on the basis of a determination that the vehicle will stop afterward, it can also be determined that the vehicle temporarily stops. Besides, the present invention may be adapted to determine whether or not a vehicle speed indicated by each of pieces of speed data included in pieces of extracted behavior data within predetermined times before and after the specified behavior data is equal to or less than the predetermined value. Also, even in the case where the vehicle speed is not zero (km/h), in the case where the vehicle speed is equal to or less than the predetermined value, and in combination with brake data, the brakes are applied, on the : : basis of a determination that the vehicle will stop afterward, it can also be determined that the vehicle temporarily stops. -
Subsequently, a determination result determined by the temporary stop determination part 3d as described above is displayed on the display by the screen } display part 3e. In addition, the screen display part 3e can selectively display the pieces of behavior data, the pieces of extracted behavior data, the specified behavior data, and the like by, for example, the user selecting any of the pieces data. Also, in the case where the screen display part 3e is one that, on the display, displays a screen for various : 30 types of operation management reports such as a driving daily report, the present invention may be adapted to, on the screen for various types of operation management reports such as a driving daily report, display the number of times a temporary stop has been made, the number of times a temporary stop has been failed, a ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the number of temporary stop positions, and the like. Also, the screen for various types of operation management reports can also be outputted and printed as a report by a printer.
Next, an example of operation of the vehicle behavior analysis device 3 is described. - The vehicle behavior analysis device 3 is configured to be able to selectively perform a temporary stop analysis mode and other analysis modes (e.g., analysis of a close call determined from an acceleration or the like) by a user selecting any of the modes. Inthe case where the user selects the temporary stop analysis mode, the vehicle behavior analysis device 3 receives a signal of the selection to perform the temporary stop analysis mode.
Specifically, the behavior data extraction part 3c acquires pieces of behavior data recorded in the behavior data acquisition part 3a as well as acquiring map data stored in the map data storage part 3b. Then, the behavior data extraction part 3c ~ extracts pieces of behavior data acquired- when the vehicle was included in a surrounding region SR around the temporary stop position X.
The pieces of extracted behavior data extracted as described are sent to the temporary stop determination part 3d, where with use of pieces of speed data included in the pieces of extracted behavior data, it is determined whether or not a temporary stop is made.
The screen display part 3e displays, on a screen, a determination result that was obtained in the above analysis procedure and indicates whether or not the vehicle stops at the temporary stop position X. As a display mode, a list listing a plurality of temporary stop positions X and stopping (0 (OK))/not stopping (x (NG)) at each of the temporary stop positions X is displayed. In addition, the screen display part 3e may be configured to be able to, on the display, reproduce pieces of image data included in the pieces of extracted behavior data extracted by the behavior data extraction part 3c, or reproduce image data included in the specified behavior data.
According to the vehicle behavior analysis system 1 according to the present embodiment configured as described, from recorded content in the vehicle behavior" data collecting device 2, pieces of behavior data acquired in a surrounding region SR including a temporary stop position X at which the vehicle must temporarily stop are extracted, and the pieces of extracted behavior data are used to determine whether or : not the vehicle temporarily stops, so that an ex-post analysis analyzing whether or not the vehicle surely temporarily stops at the temporary stop position X can be easily and accurately made, and also analysis speed can be improved. Also, other pieces of behavior data obtained by the vehicle behavior data collecting device 2 can be used to make an ex-post analysis from a viewpoint other than the temporary stop. :
Note that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment.
For example, in the above-described embodiment, the specified behavior data is specified on the basis of the position of the image of the road sign (“Stop”) in the whole of the imaged image; however, an image of another road sign may be used to specify the specified behavior data, or on the basis of a position of an image of a road marking (characters of “Stop”, or a temporary stop line) indicated on a road, the specified behavior data may be determined. Further, on the basis of the presence or absence of an imaged image of a traffic light, or a position of the traffic light in the whole of the imaged image, the determination may be made. In the case of making the determination on the basis of the position in the traffic light image, it is possible to further determine a color of the traffic light (“yellow” light, “red” light, or “flashing red” light). Thus, as the temporary stop, in addition to a once stop based on the road sign (“Stop”) or the like as described above, it can also be determined whether or not a stop has been made according to indication of the traffic light.
The above-described embodiment is one that uses the speed data included in the specified behavior data to determine whether or not the temporary stop is made; however, besides, the temporary stop determination part may be one that operates a
: | 13 variation of a road sign or the like included in images indicated by the specified behavior data and pieces of behavior data before and after the specified behavior data, and thereby, for example, in the case where the variation is equal to or less than a predetermined value, determines that the vehicle temporarily stops.
Also, the temporary stop determination part may be adapted to, without specifying the specified behavior data from the pieces of extracted behavior data, determine the temporary stop by analyzing the pieces of speed data included in the pieces of extracted behavior data or performing another operation.
Further, the screen display part 3e may be one that displays a map on the screen as well as having a stop times mapping mode that, on the map screen, displays the number of times a temporary stop has been made, the number of times a temporary stop ~ has been failed, a ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the number of temporary stop positions, and the like with relating them to an intersection or temporary stop positions X included in the intersection.
As a mode in which the screen display part 3e displays a stop ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the intersection or the temporary stop positions X, the following mode is possible. For example, for each of the intersection and the temporary stop positions X, the screen display part 3e may display a ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the number of times the intersection or each of the temporary stop positions X has been passed. Specifically, as illustrated in FIG. 7, the screen display part 3e displays a first circle Z1 having a size corresponding to the number of times the intersection or each of the temporary stop positions X has been passed, and displays a second circle Z2 having a size corresponding to the number of stop times with concentrically superimposing the second circle Z2 on the first circle Z1. In this case, by displaying the first and second - circles Z1 and Z2 with mutually differentiating a color such as displaying the first circle
Z1 in, for example, red, and the second circle Z2 in, for example, blue, the stop ratio can be visually recognized. For example, in the case where in the first circle Z1, a ratio of the second circle Z2 is large, and at a glance, a blue portion is large, it turns out that the stop ratio is high, whereas in the case where in the first circle Z1, the ratio of the
14 | : second circle Z2 is small, and at a glance, a red portion is large, it turns out that the stop ratio is low. In addition, FIG. 7 illustrates the case where because of reduced display, the display is not based on a temporary stop position X but based on an intersection, and a ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the cumulative number of times the temporary stop positions X included in one intersection have been passed is concentrically displayed. Also, in the case of displaying an intersection with enlarging the intersection, for each of temporary stop positions X included in the Co intersection, the screen display part 3e concentrically displays a ratio of the number of times a temporary stop has been made to the number of times the temporary stop position X has been passed.
In the case of displaying the ratio of the number of stop times, it is possible to display a cumulative total per day, a cumulative total per week, a cumulative total per month, or the like. Also, the present invention may be adapted to display a cumulative total of each vehicle, or a cumulative total of each business office.
As a mode of displaying the stop ratio on the map screen, without limitation to the above one, any of various types of graphs such as a pie chart, a partial pie chart, and a bar graph may be used to display the stop ratio. Also, the stop ratio may be displayed by arranging numerical values such as displaying a fraction of which a denominator is set ‘to the number of times the temporary stop positions have been passed and a numerator is set to the number of times a temporary stop has been made. :
Further, as a system configuration, the vehicle behavior data collecting system and the vehicle behavior analysis device are cited; however, an in-vehicle system in which these devices are contained in one housing is also possible, or a system configured such that the former is set up as an in-vehicle device and the latter is provided in an office with being physically separated is also possible.
In addition, the functions (as the data recording part, data management part, behavior data extraction part, temporary stop determination part, and the like) that are described for the respective devices and illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 4 may be present in any of the vehicle behavior data collecting device and the vehicle behavior analysis device.
Yet in addition, in the above-described embodiment, described is an embodiment in which each of the various types of detection and determinations is made by a corresponding one of the devices; however, extracting or specifying behavior data, the temporary stop determination, or the like may be partially performed by a person.
For example, it is possible to use a behavior data extraction device (configured on the basis of the vehicle behavior analysis device in the above-described embodiment) provided with: the behavior data extraction part in the above-described embodiment; and an output part (for example, configured on the basis of the screen display part in the above-described embodiment) that outputs at least pieces of speed data and/or image data in pieces of extracted behavior data, which are pieces of behavior data extracted by the behavior data extraction part, with a person being able to recognize the pieces of speed data and/or image data, and from the pieces of data outputted by the output part, such as the piece of speed data and/or image data, determine whether or not the vehicle temporarily stops at the temporary stop position.
Besides, it should be appreciated that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, but can be variously modified without departing from the scope thereof.
