Abstract

COMPOSITE VEHICLE TRACKER FOR USE WITH ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM A composite vehicle tracker for use with an open-type electronic toll collection system utilizes a global positioning module and a mobile communication module, and optionally a specific short-distance communication beacon roadway module used in an area where the communicative strength is insufficient, thereby reinforcing communication in dead space and obtaining universal communication. Since no additional roadway communication equipment needs to be constructed on roadways, the costs of construction and maintenance are largely reduced and thus the burdens on the roadway operators are decreased. Moreover, according to the present invention, the purpose of toll collection is achieved by integrating additional functions into the available vehicular equipments such as a GPS global positioning module and a mobile communication module. The present invention is advantageous of reducing cost of a vehicle tracker and obstruction to practice the electronic toll collection system.
