Abstract

A magnetic head (40) includes a slider (42), and a head portion (44) provided at the slider (42). The slider (42) and the head (40) respectively have disk opposing surfaces (50, 52) opposite to a surface of a magnetic disk (16), and the disk opposing surface (52) of the head portion (44) is positioned more apart from the surface of the magnetic disk (16) than the disk opposing surface (50) of the slider. The head portion (44) includes recording and reproducing elements (46, 48) at least partially exposing to the disk opposing surface (52), and a thermal expanding member (54a, 54b) arranged in the vicinity of the recording and reproducing elements (46, 48) to thermally expand the disk opposing surface (52) in a direction of approaching the surface of the magnetic disk.
