Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a flame spraying piston ring enhancing its productivity by preventing separation of a flame spraying layer. SOLUTION: In the side of one abutment surface 1A, a protruded part 2 positioned in a side of a peripheral surface 1C of a piston ring base material 1 to protrude in its circumferential direction is provided, the protruded part has a protruded side principal surface 2A at a right angle to the axial direction of the base material, in the other abutment surface 1B, a recessed part 3 positioned in a peripheral surface of the base material to receive the protruded part is formed, the recessed part has a recessed part side principal surface 3A at a right angle to the axial direction of the base material. The protruded part is positioned in the recessed part, in a condition that the protruded side principal surface and the recessed part side principal surface are opposed, between the principal surfaces, a thin steel plate 10 is interposed, in a condition separating an edge part 2B in a base material peripheral surface side with the thin steel plate in the protruded side principal surface from an edge part 3B in a base material peripheral surface side with a plate in the protruded side principal surface, flame spraying is applied to the base material peripheral surface.
