Abstract
The catheter has a controlled voltage supply to an ablation electrode and an internal sensor for the ambient conditions adjacent to the electrode. A control unit receives the sensor signal and generates a signal varying the output signal from the voltage supply. The sensor has a detector reacting to non-ionised ambient radiation, and the control unit so processes the sensor signal as to determine the presence of boiling blood.
