Abstract

The main sewer is divided into separate regions for effluent from buildings where the effluent is delivered by separate pipes, depending on the degree of branching and type of effluent carried, and for effluent delivered from buildings with only one effluent pipe. Water effluent pipes (10-12) run between a first building (3) and the main sewer (1), the pipes being separated according to the amount of branching and/or the type of effluent carried. Water effluent pipes (18) also run into the main sewer from other buildings (16), although here the pipes are not separated. The main sewer is divided into two or more separate regions in order to keep the flow of effluent from at least one of the separate pipes apart from the flow of effluent from the buildings where the water effluent pipes are not separated.
