Abstract

Controlling the flow of a liquid and its amount of active components during intravenous infusion to provide a pre-determined volume of liquid with the necessary amount of active components, comprises utilising a control and regulator unit (7) to automatically regulate the infusion pumps (1, 2), in order to generate a flow of liquid from containers (3, 4) with known active component concentrations. These liquids with different active component concentrations are mixed together when they are combined at a branch coupling (6), forming the required infusion liquid (5), which is supplied at a constant volume per unit of time. The apparatus used in this method is also claimed.
