Abstract

The drill comprises a shank (10) having a first tip forming end (12), with at least one cutting edge, and a second opposed end (14). There are two chip flutes (22, 24) which extend from the first tip forming end (12) to the opposite end (14) of the shank (10), and two cooling channels (30, 32) which extend through the shank (12) of the drill (10) and terminate in the first tip forming end (20). There is a cooling channel (26) located between the chip flutes (22,24) that is parallel to a centre axis (16) of the shank (10) and extends through the shank (10) of the drill from the second end (14) and in direction towards the tip forming end (12). The cooling channel (26) is located between the chip flutes (22,24) in a position between the first tip forming end (12) and the second end (14) dividing into two branch channels (34, 36), which terminate in the first tip forming end (12). The cooling channel (26) located between the chip flutes (22,24) is eccentrically located relative to the centre axis (16) of the shank (10). The centre axis (16) of the shank (10) is situated in the cooling channel (26) located between the chip flutes (22,24).
