Abstract

An electric motor-driven fan unit is arranged between the upper and lower ends. The vacuum cleaner incorporates a transformer for changing mains voltage to a lower level for driving the electric motor of the fan unit and/or the brush roller. The vacuum cleaner also incorporates a device for rectifying the current to the electric motor of the brush roller and/or the fan unit. The vacuum cleaner comprises a first part (10) releasably connected to a second part (11). The first part is formed as a hand-borne unit which partly incorporates the fun unit with its electric motor, partly the dust container (13) and which via a cable (19) can be connected to mains voltage. The second part (11) is formed as a shaft which incorporates the mouthpiece (30) and the hand grip (29). The hand grip and the mouthpiece are connected to each other via an intermediate part (31).
