Abstract
The exhaust burner is switched in prematurely when the exhaust temperature exceeds a specified threshold value (Ts) downstream of the soot filter. When the (Ts) value is exceeded, the interval from the last regeneration stage is checked against a specific value and again whether a specified performance diagram point has been overshot before the soot filter is partially or totally regenerated by burner switch-on. The (Ts) value is given at around 450 deg C, and a quick-starting burner is used for preference. The exhaust temperature downstream of the filter should be checked at a localised measuring point in a control instrument used in any case to check on the degree of filter loading. The burner is prematurely switched off once the exhaust back-pressure downstream of the filter has fallen sufficiently, or again after a sudden jump in exhaust pressure (DELTAp) downstream of the filter assembly.
