Abstract
An exhaust-driven turbocharger (5) with turbine (6) and compressor (7) drives combustion air through a branching system (9) to the air inlets (10) of individual cylinders (2). A throttle flap (14) in the air line (8) is adjusted (15) by an electronic controller (16) incorporating a torque regulator (17), an air regulator (18) and an accelerator pedal matrix (19) connected to a pedal position sensor (20). Inputs to the air regulator may be supplied from sensors of engine speed (22) and load (23), knock (24) and intake air temp. (26).
