Abstract

The image generation unit (10) has at least one toner container (21), an electrode unit (14a,14b) and toner carrier elements (12a,12b). The electrode unit contains electrodes and openings at least partly enclosed by the electrodes and controls the transport of toner particles from the carrier element to a counter electrode and to an information carrier which can be inserted between the carrier element and counter electrode (15). A transport zone contains at least two smaller zones contg. a number of toner carrier elements in the toner container or a chamber (22) connected to it, whereby the number of carrier elements corresp. to the number of zones. The transport zone also contains several electrode units contg. openings and electrodes in reduced numbers and/or of reduced sizes.
