Abstract

Cupola has a tapping outlet for the molten metal and is sealed by a plug. Below the outlet is a pouring sheath, protecting the mould box edge from splash metal from the outgoing stream and/or the pouring gate in the mould box. The sheath can comprise a graphite chill inside a steel sleeve, and protrudes beyond the latter in the axial direction. ADVANTAGE - No accumulation of metal on mould box edge.
