Abstract

A block to hold, connect or enclose exploding pyrotechnic ignition cords or detonators in a signalling network comprises spaced inner (2) and outer (1) walls around at least an axial part of an ignition device (9), and an empty space (7) or material of lower density between the walls, with fasteners (12) to hold the parts in position. The inner wall is pref. of hard plastics such as high-density polyethylene and is sufficiently weak or brittle to at least expand in normal operation. The outer wall is pref. of resilient plastics such as low-density polyethylene, and resists total disintegration in normal operation of the device. The device pref. makes a snug fit in the inner wall, and there may be further spaced walls around the outer wall.
