Abstract

A typical compsn. of the emulsion consists of:- 24.6 wt% alkylphenolethoxylate with around 10 carbon atoms in alkyl parts and 4 mol ethylene oxide, 20.5 wt.% nonylphenolethoxylate with 9 mol ethylene oxide, 23 wt.% phenolethoxylate with 4 mol ethylene oxide, 1.2 wt.% quat. cocoa butter aminethoxylate with around 10 mol ethylene oxide, 0.4 wt.% cetyltributyl ammonium bromide, 30.3 wt.% cycloparaffin carbohydrate solvent with commencement boiling point of 157 deg. C and a flash point of 43 deg. C. 250 litres of the mixt. are mixed with 25 litres NTA soln. (38 wt.%) contg. an excess of lye of 1 to 5 wt.%. The mixt. is then diluted with cold water to form 1000 litres.
